trivkins: already exists
Looks like you are trying to load the kinematics module twice.
I can see one in your screen shot:
'loadrt [KINS] KINEMATICS'

Generally a bit difficult to help with just snippets of information.

With the jumper removed, connected to field power and the 7i96s connected:
Nothing between 1 and 3 pins on W1
22.8v between 1 and 2, nothing between 2 and 3

carefully removed the IC, still nothing between 1 and 3 and the status lights are still the same.

Ah well, it was an expensive evening

Is there any way to use Pncconf Wizard to set up 7i97T with 7i73 pendant board?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Adding a simple probe input does not require adding any components, basically just
making some connections in the hal file, something like:

 net probe hm2_7i97.inmux.00.input-15 =>  motion.probe-input

 or perhaps

net probe hm2_7i97.inmux.00.input-15-not =>  motion.probe-input

depending on the probe polarity.

Adding a MPG will typically require at least one components as a mux component
is often used to select between jog increments.

Searching the forum for MPG will finds a number of MPG implementations and hal file examples.

With a 7I92, you would normally chose firmware that matches the
pinout of the breakout board you use. The G540x2 firmware is made
to match the pinout of the Gecko G540 4 Axis step/dir drive.

A commonly use breakout board (BOB)  is the Sainsmart "Mach 5 Axis CNC" breakout
For the, you would use  "5ABOB" firmware

Is there any way to use Pncconf Wizard to set up 7i97T with 7i73 pendant board?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

I really don't even need to use the 7i73, all I am really trying to do is add a probe input and set up this MPG for my 7i97T. I really don't know how to add custom components to hal and ini files from scratch. I will admit that I do need to read up on the process...

I'll try as you suggested, nothing to loose at this point.
Thanks so much for the help

Ok. got it to work with the intel itx board. the fujistu minipc is hopeless.
I got it with 7i92_G540x2D firmware, kind of weird to setup the pins. Is there a simple firmware?
For reference i'm planning to use an lathe like 400x1000 3 tons with live tooling so no Y axis (X axis, Z axis and C-axis)

Edit: BTW i used a chinese usb stick (USB 3.0) and when i install the linuxcnc it gave errors (like the password for the wifi did not work or it refuse to install grub loader, so i use another usb and it works like charm).

As I mentioned in our email communications, the 3.3V power supply may be shorted out
by the damaged chip (there may be more than one unfortunately). So if that is cleared,
communications may work. Also as I mentioned, damage to the I/O section of the 7I84U
is unlikely to propagate to the serial interface side as that is galvanically isolated (2KV!)
from the I/O side.

You might check if there is 3.3V (measure from W1 pin 1 to 3, pin 1 should ++3.3V)
Lack  of 3.3V may mean damaged 3.3V regulator or shorted part.

Nothing like that around me. The LV4051A chip closest to that area of the board has a bulged up spot in the middle and it's a multiplexer so it's probably toast but since there's no sign of any connection between the two boards now it must have taken out more upstream of that. I'm just hoping it didn't kill the communication part on the 7i06s

Is there any way to use Pncconf Wizard to set up 7i97T with 7i73 pendant board?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

There is an experimental version of pncconf (for LinuxCNC 2.10 only) that supports the 7I97T in this thread:

forum.linuxcnc.org/plasmac/55286-servo-d...ofit?start=10#331289

Note that there is no specific firmware needed to support the 7I73

There's also a sample 7I97T configuration to which  7I73 support could be added:

File Attachment:

File Name: basic7i97_...1-29.zip
File Size:4 KB

To list 7i73 pin and parameter names:

halcmd show all | grep 7i73

while LinuxCNC is running

Do you have a thermal imaging or infrared camera or do you know someone who has one? Defective ICs often get hot when you apply power to them.
