Add gear/range change to linuxcnc turn post

Category: Fusion 360

For the past while i have been using mastercam v9 for my linuxcnc powered lathe , I use 3 M codes to select speed ranges , this was easy to setup in the mastercam post but im having a hard time with the fusion post.

All the information i can find online seems to be a bit dated or the post format has changed , it looks like there used to be a fairly simple section for the spindle but now is more complicated than i can handle.

1-649 rpm - M101
650-1199 rpm - M102
1200-2200rpm - M103

Here is what the code should look like , note the M102 before the spindle turns on , If using constant surface speed it should output the M code for the max RPM

G0 T0002 M06 G43
G97 M102 S1200 M03
G0 G54 X1.8013 Z.11 M8

I have attached the newest linuxcnc turn post with a few small changes i have made for other things.including G43 at every tool change .

Thanks for any help you are able to offer.

Looking for Stepgen Index Homing Firmware for Mesa 7i76eu & 7i85S

Category: Driver Boards

Hi,
I was hoping someone might have a firmware file for a 7i76eu & 7i85S that enables the stepgen index homing.  Or if anyone has any links on how to make custom firmware I downloaded the source file and found a post with the necessary changes, but I'm not sure how to compile the firmware.

I didn't have enough encoder inputs so I only connected the index signals from my servo drives to the 7i85S encoder inputs.  Thanks in advance for the help.

X-Axis ---> stepgen.00 --> hm2_7i76e.0.encoder.00.input-a
Y-Axis ---> stepgen.01 --> hm2_7i76e.0.encoder.00.input-b
Y2-Axis ---> stepgen.02 --> hm2_7i76e.0.encoder.00.input-index
Z-Axis ---> stepgen.03 --> hm2_7i76e.0.encoder.01.input-a
A-Axis ---> stepgen.04 --> hm2_7i76e.0.encoder.01.input-b
B-Axis ---> stepgen.05 --> hm2_7i76e.0.encoder.01.input-index
C-Axis ---> stepgen.06 --> hm2_7i76e.0.encoder.02.input-a

Hallo karle,

Michael

If you got to Mesa's web store and then to the specification tab for the 7I96S
there is a support software download selection.

This support software includes firmware files for the 7I96S

Mesa 7i96s pkuart firmware

Category: Driver Boards

Hi,
I'm new to LinuxCNC. I tried to build a small milling machine and would like to control the VFD driver through Modbus.
I am using the Mesa 7i96s. I’ve seen some people mention flashing the card with "7i96sd_pktv2.bin" to remap the SSerial port to the PKUART port, but I can’t find this firmware.So, I’m stuck at the beginning…
Maybe I’m misunderstanding something?
Can you help me?Thanks!

Hilariously the XL is open source  github.com/FYSETC/Venture_XL
I am also curious tommylight , have you used other toolheads with the voron 2.4 like the DragonBurner or
RapidBurner? if so what is your opinion of them?

You might want to wait a bit till the hysteria settles down and the price will also settle down with it.
Or some China shop will come up with a much cheaper kit, as they did with Voron 0.1.
At the risk of repeating myself, if you have no parts for 3D printers already, it is much better to buy a kit than to source parts yourself, saves a lot of time and even more frustration. Also, after you finally source everything and build the damn thing, you have plenty of parts that don't fit that you payed for so the only reasonable thing is to buy more parts and build another one... :) That is how i ended up with 5 of Voron 2.4 !!!

Appreciated as always tommylight. I put the response there to show that there are kits now available
when before there were none.

So far it hasn’t complained yet. :side:
Old HDD drives don’t like having their power cut off like that, but modern SSDs don’t really care.

If you're running an Rpi4 or 5 with a SD card this method has be known to corrupt the SD card. Ca n leave files open and prevents the OS from doing some "clean up" housework.

You can configure the desktop to start shutdown by pressing the ON\OFF switch on the PC or ask you if you want to shutdown, should be under Power Preferences.

I don't know if it's correct but I directly turn off the main power switch and everything goes off.
