Mesa 7i96S MPG encoder on P1

Category: Driver Boards

Hello PCW,

A few days ago i flashed my 7i96s with the 7i96sd_inmp1v2.bin file. Flashing was without error.
Since then, the X-axis-homing does not work anymore.
Homing of y-axis and z-axis works fine, as expected.
I would be glad to get your help to solve this issue
Is there a way to get the 7i96s in the state before flashing ?

Tanks a lot

7i96S Referenzfahrt X-Achse funktioniert nach mesaflash nicht mehr

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Hallo Zusammen,

it's possible...i measured 24V on the output pins.....these lines look different then when the machine was last operational but i had ChatGPT produce these...they don't seem right to me but i don't know enough...my board is a 7i76EU so i was thinking of replacing 7i76 with 7i76EU......if i comment these lines out the z axis brake doesn't release...

Is it just about homing sequences? Or do you need to keep a fixed ratio for the axis?

So, with the help of the AI assistant I found out that it is a HID device. I entered the command: sudo cat /dev/hidraw4
then when I press the keys, characters appear in the terminal.

Hello, are you still having problems with your homing? I use the El7 homecomp for my A6. If you're still interested, I can upload my config.

Rotary Encoder to adjust Jog-Speed?

Category: Advanced Configuration

halui.joint.jog-speed (float in) - pin for setting jog speed for plus/minus jogging.

i connect a potentiometer to it and bring it in the hal together...

i see that halui.joint.jog-speed changed when i look to the halpin.
but the jog speed doesnt change when i jog.

i jog with the pc keyboard!

is it possible that this is only working when you jog with like a joystick???
or a button on a pendant for plus and minus???

i use a handwheel... my target is to move from increment to increment with a selected speed.. like:

i select joint 0 and increment 0.1 with the rotary switches on my pendant, then i rotste the handwheel.. the jog speed is the same wich is selected with the jog speed bar in AXIS. now i want to adjust this Speed with another encoder or pot.

but i understand it works only with buttons for + - axis movement together.
and this is what i understand that it works like a joystick.

or i am complete wrong?

Hallo @tommylight

XHC-WHB04B-6 not increasing MPG counts

Category: HAL

Used xhc-whb04b-6 -ue in a terminal window, and can see all buttons working.

However, in the line:
pndnt wheel total counts {counts=0 activeCounter=0 isLeadActive=0}
all the values remain at zero.
Thing is with every click of the MPG there are other digits in the terminal window that are doing something so it appears the MPG clicks are being noticed by the driver.
Watching these digits (which are either 0 or 1 or -1) the 0 digit appears to be incrementing with MPG clicks but immediately returning to 0
The digit which is either +1 or -1 seems to change when I rotate the MPG forward and revere respectively.
So overall it appears the xhc-whb04b-6 driver is actually recognising the MPG pulses but is not incrementing the total pulse count.

I can also use
xhc-whb04b-6 Ha and then start Halshow.
Once again, all button presses show up in Halshow but counts stays at zero when using the MPG.

My big question is: does the driver need some sort of feedback pins setting from Halui, in order to increment the pin:

whb.axis._<N>_.jog-counts

You would not normally see much of a change in STEP
pin outputs as the STEP pulses are short and do not change
the average voltage ( what a voltmeter reads ) very much.

You should see a change in the voltage on the DIR
pins when jogging in different directions.

It this possibly an issue with the motor drive enables?

ColorCNC Colorlight 5A-75E/5A-75B as FPGA controller board

Category: Driver Boards

Hello,
Recently I bought a 5A-75E v8.2 board, but I can't get the JTAG programming to work.
I have used the configuration file for v6.0 to build the firmware.

openFPGALoader detects the FPGA correctly, but when I attempt to flash it, it throws the following error.
linuxcnc@linuxcnc:~$ sudo /opt/oss-cad-suite/bin/openFPGALoader --cable dirtyJtag --detect

I have checked my connections multiple times, they are correct. What is the issue here? Is it maybe because of dirtyJtag?

let me correct what i seen on the Step pins. I seen a very small drop from 5.08V to 5.06. Seems like something was holding it back.

Thanks.  I've made those corrections. I've made some progress today.  When i remove my physical estop button i can now hear the Z-axis brake release but still no motor movement on any axis. I took the step of putting a volt meter across the Dir and Step pins on the Mesa board.  I initially see 5V on all pins. Then i ran the MDI command
G91 G0 X0.1.  I see values changing in Halmeter for pid.x.command, pid.x.output, stepgen.01.velocity-cmd and a voltage drop on the Dir Pins.  But no voltage drop on the Step pins.  This is the case for all axis.I feel like I'm close to getting this to work again.  My wiring has not been changed since it was last fully operational on all 3 servos.  I can't get them to move in the DMM software either.I'm attaching my Hal and Ini files.  For some reason it's not letting me load the Text files.  Any help is appreciated. Thanks Therman Simmons Fort Mill, SC
