it does not change, it still homes in the same direction. only flipping the positive and negative in the table length changes the direction.

Yeah definitely affordable!

We run 415v 3ph in Australia. Weirdly enough there isn't a huge amount of aliexpress drives that cater to that voltage.
Inovance, Leadshine and Delta do however offer 400v stuff which is nice.

I had a good read through your tutorial last night. Very informative.

Unfortunately it's the servo drives that are busted in my machine. I assume the procedure is similar for newer drives if running analog? I would tune the velocity/torque in the drive software, then tune position through Linuxcnc.

It looks like a few of the modern servo drives I've looked at have encoder outputs. Those will just run back into a Mesa card like the 7I97?

Yes, your picture with the NPN sensor and 2.2K pullup to +24V is correct.

The 7I96/7I96S can work without resistors with PNP or NPN sensors.
This is because they have a floating common pin for their inputs so can
sense either a connection to positive (PNP)  or negative (NPN) voltage
relative to  this floating common pin.

The 7I76/7I76U does not have a floating input common pin so can only
sense positive voltages. Since NPN sensors do not output a positive
voltage, but just a sense dependent connection to ground, an external
resistor must be  added to pull the NPN sensor output to a positive level.

In the latest master version of linuxcnc, the grid will show in perspective (without patch).
Also there is an action tool button to set grid size from the INI entry. See an example of the 'optn' button in any of the qtdragon screens.

Hi, i also use NPN Sensors for homing and limit switches by my 7i96s without any resistors.
I thing it is also by the 7i76u not nessesary to use a resitor. The i/o's should work from 5 to 28V. Description Screenshot from mesa below.

It is not very difficult to bind the sensors:  L1 (brown) to DC 24V current power ,  L- Blue on ground.  The switch cable ist  Black (BK) an is to connect to the input pin of 7i76u.

But, please without guarantee.


 

Unfortunately I do not have this unit wired in yet. I got this to replace a complete POS usb board that shipped with the mill and never worked from the moment it came out of the crate. (no direction change on x and y and no spindle control), I am trying to get everything working on the bench first just in case I might need to reflash the unit. Save me the hassle of having to completely unwire and rewire the unit if something turns up wrong.

I used the remora-rt1052-basic version because that was what was recommend to me.

Sorry I'm not able to be more helpful as I am very new to both LinuxCNC and this Remora stuff.

Does this work for you with steppers? Could you show me a little video? Internal photos of the board?
 

To solve the "lathe problem", please backup your files to be changed and try this:
copy default_template.xml (attached to this message) in
/home/linuxcnc/nativecam/catalogs/lathe/projects/
Replace the existing file.

Then:
sudo geany /usr/share/linuxcnc/gladevcp/NativeCAM/cfg/lathe/material.cfg
Remove the line 84 "header h3". All the line, without lefting an empty line.
Save the file, and maybe the problem is solved.

P.S. there is a revised installation guide too, if someone may be interested in.If you have already installed NativeCAM, you don't need this new guide since all the precedure is already done.
