Can I control an output while gcode is being processed?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

I would be grateful if you could give me a little more detail. I saw that synchronized movements can be made with M63 in the manual, but I could not find details.

Its possible, but would need slow index inputs (at least 300 usec or so in duration)
what does you index signal come from?

Do you have 5V and field power on the 7I77

(four yellow LEDs and one red LED illuminated on the 7I77)

Also posting your hal/ini files may help

Good news.
I got it working in changing the control pins for Y-axis (from 3/16 original Y-axis, to 5/6 original A-axis) on the parallel port.
But it is really weird why 2.9.3 is not working in the original Y-axis config but the old config still works with this config.

Attached the original config. As said I just swapped 2 pins around...
btw. the old version I was running was 2.7.0 Pre, I did build them myself from sources. ;)

Thanks a lot,
DeJe

I have flashed the 2x7i77 file to my 7c81 and made a config based vaguely on this tecnique:

i made the config using 5i25 and the single 7i77 template.
when i try to start linuxcnc fails and says that it cant find the first pin (like there was no field power).
Could there be a problem with my config?
7i77 is connected to p1, pncconf shows the the 7i77 tabs at SS#0 and SS#1 and p2 p3 are free to configure. do i have to edit the hal manually (except the rpspi and the name of the card of course, I have already done that)?

Hi

I also could use some index inputs for my Emco lathe. Is it possible to make a firmware for 7i96S with 2 index inputs in isolated I/O?

Milling cnc not accurate

Category: Basic Configuration

I have a problem with my milling machine because it is not accurate

Below is the part I'm making to test my machine.

I have a difference of -0.6 mm / 0.023622 in on the X axis
                                   -0.3 mm / 0.011811 in on the Y axis
                                   -0.1 mm / 0.00393701 in on the Z axis

no excess thickness on my program

I tested with a probe the 3 axes, and about the same location as the machining of my part when I jog 1 mm I have 1mm and I jog 5 mm I have 5mm. the problem is that I have a backlash of 0.05mm (wear of the screw).

for me my PID is good.

This is the 3rd piece I have tested and I have the same dimensions.

Sounds like reversed polarity on the field power connector.

another question regarding the 7i77:
i have hooked up the field power to the secondary output of my power supply, but the voltage breaks down. So i have hooked it up to a separate 12V Power supply delivering max. 1A, but same behavior, the voltage breaks down even if I separate vin and field power
I have checked field power and Gnd, they are not shorted, like in another thread mentioned.
The manual says "Field power must have a ramp up rate of less than 10V/Millisecond", I am no expert, but plugging a switching supply in the mains should not not exceed that!?

LinuxCNC-RIO - RealtimeIO for LinuxCNC based on FPGA (ICE40 / ECP5)

Category: Computers and Hardware

No the W5500 works, initiating (ip addrr and other such stuff) is done via the FPGA via the SPI interface.
You'll have to setup your config to use the W5500 so that the correct bitfile is generated.

Examples and docs are supplied on the github project page.

Thanks for confirming. I hope I get around it soon to test it. New W5500 are at home.

> tooltip on the GUI:
it depends on where exactly you want the tooltip

Everywhere, where acronyms are used. For Example in the binin Plugin. LVTTL, LVCMOS33,... I have no clue what that means... LVTTL = Low Voltage Transistor Transistor Logic?

Time to revisit coolant mapping of M-codes in Linuxcnc

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

I'll have to dig into Python, I've never worked with it directly.

Yes, my goal would be mappable io pins via mx px gcode convention.

I already wrote a coolant control hal component, might be time to start adding to it
