Try loading this dependencies and then install Linuxcnc (these dependevies are for the so called run in place RIP Linuxcnc installation, its a compiled installation) but it might help you with your deb method installation (in my case I refer rip). At the command prompt issue the following command:

Im hooking up a spindle encoder on my lathe to a el5151. The abz inputs goes to the el5151 but in halshow i see how it every turn resets the encoder counts and position. Im guessing this would create problems when using sync motion? It also doesnt have a velocity pin so is it okay to use the software encoder counter to get the velocity. When i do this i get a very noisy signal where it goes to 20 the 500 then 1000 then 200 etc. Just all over the place. Is it bad too use a lowpass filter to smooth it?

Thank you very much for your help. I first installed www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/ as described without any errors. Then I run:

Glad it got you going again!

The “lag” is due to the way internal MDI commands are dealt with, in conjunction with choosing a method that works well with the preview.

Always interesting to learn how people use the GUI. The feedback is good, helps drive feature updates, etc. (to the master branch, 2.9 is locked in from a QtPlasmaC standpoint).

IIRC, something was updated with G92 that made us completely disable it in the master branch. At any rate whatever the change was is eluding me, but it’s the reason G92 doesn’t behave as it used to for you. It isn’t anything we changed in QtPlasmaC.

The other way is the way to go anyhow.

Ok fixed floating point problem.

added new default commands:
for a radio button (with exclusive behavior)
radiotrue
radiofalse

for a checkbox (independent):
checktrue
checkfalse

true and false now will show a checkable pushbutton

well, needed to do some machining... Updated to the latest Master branch in buildbot2 a couple days ago.
when running, I really like to see both the current position and distance to go (DTG) displayed simultaneously.
the display doesn't do that, at least not stock out of the box.
can it?  axis sure does.
How can it be made to?   hopefully not customizing anything....I've worked hard getting away from that...

Installing Probe Basic is a complete disaster, even if you follow the instructions exactly, and you keep getting error messages. The instructions (link: kcjengr.github.io/probe_basic/quick_start.html) might be out of date? How can it be that if I use this ISO: linuxcnc_2.9.4-amd64.hybrid.iso LinuxCNC works but later it is not possible to get Probe Basic to work and the user_tabs folder is not found even though it is there? See first post above.

Is there an installation guide that works?
 

From what I’ve researched, the Mesa 7i76EU seems like the best option. Here’s why:

It has 32 opto-isolated inputs which should work well with the 24V NPN homing sensors

The 7I76EU inputs work directly with PNP sensors (or switches) NPN sensors will require pull-up resistors.

The sensors might need a pull-down resistor to give clean logic signals when connected to 24V. I already solderd a pc to convert the 30V signal back to a 5V system with opto's

7I76EU isolated inputs do not require any additional components with PNP sensors or switches.
Note that 5V signals will not work when you have 24V field power as the input threshold will be about
12V in this case.

7i76 is a daughter card, 7i76E has it's own controller. E means Ethernet.
