Trouble with LinuxCNC and Gantry stepper motor setup.

Category: Computers and Hardware

I do. I was able to get the Z stepper working, as it had a low voltage issue and was only able to jog in the up direction when I clicked on the jog arrows in config wizard. was also able to find the gantry config in the config setup when I opened Linuxcnc app. I am now needing to locate a helpful tutorial on Homing the joints. Have not found any yet. Can not do anything until this is done.

Actually, now that I have done more testing and fixed on issue in my ini file (had HOME_SEQUENCE=1 for all joints instead of 0), my original instructions at forum.linuxcnc.org/ethercat/54908-missin...-homing-lc10e#318671 appear to work correctly for homing LC10E drive with an external home switch on DI2.

I thought you had a parallel port setup ( using stepconf to create configurations )

Category: Installing LinuxCNC

Hi, can you detail how you managed it, since other users have had problems? I'm having problems with rtai-modules-5.4.290_5.3.3-linuxcnc_amd64.deb
Another detail is that when I try to remove linuxcnc, I get another error. It says: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Guys, I found here what I needed to solve the problem, but when I open LinuxCNC, the screen goes black and restarts to the user login. However, I don't know if this is normal or if there is a problem, so I prefer to restart the machine.        forum.linuxcnc.org/9-installing-linuxcnc...ue-with-2-9-4#327437

LinuxCNC-RIO - RealtimeIO for LinuxCNC based on FPGA (ICE40 / ECP5)

Category: Computers and Hardware

Awesome thank you, I'll update and check that out tonight.

I don't want to push my luck but would it be possible to have a dual timer plugin? It would be for lube pumps mainly, so generally they turn on when the machine starts, run for 10 seconds then off, and turn on for 10 seconds every 20 minutes after that.

I guess the blink could be modified for longer frequency but both the on and off time needs to be adjustable.

Cheers.
Russell.

K2 Retrofit with pico systems servo amplifier and encoders using 7i95t

Category: Advanced Configuration

Hey guys I have been having a hell of a time trying to get closed loop pid tuning going, which i've done before pretty easily. The Z Axis seems to require over 500 P in order to have proper cmd-pos and fb-pos being in line or on target. No matter what I do I seem to get this crazy drift once im done pressing the job button.Maybe someone can help out?I have tried tuning to no end. The Z Axis has a shock which creates resistance from it falling downwards.Maybe my scale is incorrect or something else? The Servo Amplifiers use Digital PWM/DIR

Using a 7i92t as replacement for a parallel port

Category: Driver Boards

The 7I92 is intended to work with a separate breakout/daughtercard that
does things like buffer step/dir signals, accept 24V input signals from switches
etc etc.

You choose firmware that matches your breakouts (daughtercards) pinout.

When this is done, things like stepgens will be on the breakouts stepgen pins
and will be in a standard order like:

0  X
1  Y
2  Z
3  A
4  B

As long as you choose a similar daughtercard in pncconf or MesaCT, the
configuration should be usable. If the configuration utility does not have
a exact daughterboard match, there may be small details like GPIO pin
assignment for things like limit switches or spindle-on that require a
bit of hand editing of the hal file.

If you have a Benezan breakout, a G540 configuration should be close.

Using a 7i92t as replacement for a parallel port

Category: Driver Boards

Thanks PCW. Sorry for the noobiness: I'm confused by the "daughterboard" terminology. I was hoping to be able to connect the DB25 male connector that comes from the lathe's control box directly into the DB25 female connector of the card. I'm confused because when I tried to use pncconf, I'm always asked about a daughterboard.

Is it correct to assume that in this case the daughterboard is the male connector from the lathe?

The benezan is not listed as firmware in the pncconf utility. Is it correct to assume that a firmware that has stepgens on pins 3 and 5 works? Or are there other criteria for choosing a firmware?

Configuring LinuxCNC 2.9.4 Mesa 7i95t Newbie.

Category: Milling Machines

Thanks guys! I changed the velocity settings and DPLL from -50us to -200us,
and added acceleration to my multi_mpg.hal and now it’s running like a clock.

I’ll add a selector switch for resolution 0.1 0.01 0.001 and a switch for incremental & Continuous jog later.

For now I need to fix limit switches, I read somewhere that only 1 switch per axis was good enough because softlimits will protect against overtravel in other direction.

I think I’ll make the machine home X- Y- and Z+ and then make X,Y jog back 50% of total travel so that the table center line up roughly with spindle center line.

Problems with Lichuan Ethercat servo drive

I was hoping @tar_san could post his files, as he indicates he got homing with external limit and origin switches working. I had thought I had homing figured out back in January, but discovered it was only working for Z index pulse homing, not external switch homing. I then had to set the project aside for six months due to a high priority consulting project, and am back on my LCNC ethercat quest again.

Using a 7i92t as replacement for a parallel port

Category: Driver Boards

Yes, that should work.

You can use pncconf or MesaCT to created a configuration for the 7I92.

You can use a similar daugtercard if the Benezan card is not supported.
