I found some other useful application techniques and reference material on the rockwell website, but hands down the best read ive ever had on the the subject and the probe section had me I hope this can help anyone having noise issues, Im thinking of building a couple cheap scopes into my next control cabinet.

I am trying to set-up a Probe_Basic configuration on my mill. I have successfully loaded Axis onto a Lenovo  M715q with a AMD a6-8570e r5 processor. I have disabled all of the extra stuff in the bios and have tried different linux adjustments like locking the RT to one specific core and I still get terrible latency reports of around 70000ns. 

Why is probe_basic used on AMD processors only?

Am I missing something? Start looking for a different computer?

I have two of these mini computers for a mill and lathe retrofit. I really like the durable form factor.

Habe jetzt vorerst mal einen custom M Code gemacht, den ich an den Anfang oder ans Ende des Programms setzte, der 2 Sek. einen Schmierimpuls auslöst.

on whether you use the 7I88 as 7 stepgens+ RS-485 or 8 stepgens)

A 7I96S+ a common Mach 5 axis BOB (5ABOB) would give you 10

How can I use 10 or 11 stepgen with mesa? What cards to be used?

Der steigt beim laden der Komponenten aus, da alles schon vorhanden ist.
Die Zeit zwischen den Pulsen kann ich da auch nicht einstellen?

Ich hab mal meine Hal und Ini angehängt.

Seither habe ich einen Schalter für die Zentralschmierung in der Custom.Hal, das wurde zum testen ausgeklammert.

Oh sorry that it wasn't clear. With workspace I mean the Linux environment. So at one point which I don't quite remember, I had several terminal windows and Firefox open. Now every time I start Linux, even when I already closed all windows or opened others, it gets back to this state.

In what setups this is a problem? Parport?
If you have an ethercat servo, the servo takes care about the encoder pulses and you just read the position from the drive. So as long as the servo drives can keep up, lcnc side is ok.
I would assume this is the same with mesa stuff. The FPGA counts the pulses and lcnc just retrieves the pulse count periodically.

Or maybe I just misunderstand something.
