Hi Peter,
I know that it's been a while, but would you still have the zenford zeiglers available by any chance.
Cheers

LS Electric iX7 Drive - Help with creating the proper xml file and driver

Category: EtherCAT

First, does there need to be a ix7.c and ix7.h file? Second, the xml file downloaded from the vendor is really long. I assume most everything is not needed for LCNC. Can someone help me understand which parts of the xml are required to make a properly formatted xml for LCNC. Then, if the .c and .h files are required can someone help me understand which parts of the current drivers can I cut and paste to create a properly formatted driver. If I understand correctly the .c pulls the xml to create the proper hal pins. Or must I also create the custom hal to match the other 2. The details are not clear enough to really understand the scope of what is required to fully incorporate a new ethercat device not already listed. Please see the attached full xml from the OEM LS Electric. I assume this will help many others as these drives are pretty affordable and always available at automationdirect. Thanks in advance.

The files are too large to attach. So please see the link here to download>>>

Try commenting out parts of your custom hal file. As mentioned in my thread the e-stop hal code needed some tweaks in my case in order to not conflict with the internal hal code in Probe Basic.

NotHalt mit GUI und ext. Taster (AXIS/Qtvcp)

Category: Deutsch

Arno

Der Code:
# E-Stop Chain
loadrt estop_latch count=1
addf estop-latch.0 servo-thread

# E-Stop Loop
net estop-loopin iocontrol.0.user-enable-out => estop-latch.0.ok-in
net estop-loopout estop-latch.0.ok-out => iocontrol.0.emc-enable-in

# E-Stop Reset
net estop-reset iocontrol.0.user-request-enable
net estop-reset => estop-latch.0.reset
net remote-estop0 estop-latch.0.fault-in <= hm2_7i76e.0.7i76.0.0.input-10-not #Pin 11, dort kommt das ON Signal vom PNOZ an
# und wg der Pilztaster  mit NC Kontakten muss das Signal invertiert sein.

EtherCAT options for spindle encoder

Category: EtherCAT

Hi,
I'm having trouble navigating the options for spindle position feedback for a lathe conversion. My existing system uses an encoder connected to a Mesa 7i76.

What are my options? EK1100 + EL5151?

What other solutions have people come up with?

Regards,

Jim.

Need help in choosing controller board from small honby cnc.

Category: Driver Boards

Help me out in physical Estop button on MPG controller. I want to use estop button so that I need not to press estop and machine enable button in GUI. I have made hal config so that when I press estop in GUI machine is also enabled. But I can't do it buy releasing estop on pendant.

I have 5 axis machine and don't plan to go for 6 axis. I want to use sixth axis select button on MPG for feed override using rotary.

One more question. Should I buy stlink adapter as seen in your ec500 video to flash EC500 or I can do this with USB to UART adaptor? How can I backup my original flash so that I can revert back of I need it. I have v5 version of EC500 with iMXrt 1052.

It would be great if you and terje collaborate in making grblhal working on this board. Its easily available and have plenty of io with MPG and Ethernet. One use as LinuxCNC or grblhal. I think this board is much better and cheaper than other options available. Also with 600mhz cpu.

PCIE to PCI Adapters

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

I wish I had seen this sooner. I gave up late at night an re installed windows and mach3 just because I really needed to get other stuff moving.and needed parts made.

I think I'll come back to this later with another pc, or maybe a mesa card.
but who knows I'm stubborn as hell so might be sooner.

TL;DR to anyone in the future wondering about PCIe to PCI adapters do they work? sorta. found my card and all details looked correct but i couldn't move steppers with it or even get the parport tester working so beats me.

That Oxford chip has 4 serial ports and 1 parallel. It seems that there is room for 2 serial ports on the card but the components are not there.
It also seem that at least the pcie-pci bridge is working or else the card would not be found and no drivers loaded (no lspci for the bridge to know which one it is).

Take a look at  this post of my test.
That sunix 2 port parallel card reported 4 io- ports (correct, 2 ports and each has 2 addresses) (e000, e010, e020, e030) and parport driver used the same addresses (upper ones). In linuxcnc we have to use the lower ports.
Your card reports addresses 3000, 3040, 3048 and the parport driver is using 3028. Sounds a bit strange and it may be that this particular card does not work with linux at all even it has a supported chip (which is configurable...).

It means you’re calling a material number that doesn’t exist/is not set up in qtplasmac. Simply create a material with the appropriate settings on the parameters tab with the material number you’re referencing and all should be well.

A plug for the step and direction signals is the simple way. With the power off just unplug the PC then plug in the Arduino

JT

That's the first thing I thought of, but I don't like the idea of changing connectors all the time.

The topic of making a circuit sounds good, but I don't have much of an idea.

Would anything happen if I connected the negative signals from the PC and Arduino together, and the positive signals directly from an external 5V power supply with the PC board turned off and vice versa?

Convert MESA 7i76D 4-Axis Robot to 5-Axis Robot --> Failing

Category: PnCConf Wizard

This makes no sense (to me) but I tried changing it from XYZAU to XYZUA and that didn't work.

I changed it to XYZAB and it worked. ????

The irony is that XYZA are all ROTAIONAL steppers, and AXIS-B will actually be linear.

But hey, if it works... for now I don't care... not looking at the display anyway at this time... just programmability.

Maybe... someday... perhaps... if I get a LOT of help... I'll do a real IK version of this thing... but honestly... I can't do it without someone VERY experienced to help me with that. There used to be a PUMA sim... can't find it now... but if that could be converted to the MESA 7i76D card and the DH lengths and angles updated... it would work. (And... then I could use it to get my REAL PUMA working again.)

If the drive has a step/dir position mode, that is what you use
(you don't need a velocity mode even for a spindle)

Binary encoder - Sauter SK-501 turret - Strobe diagram of functions

Category: Advanced Configuration

after reading the hal file, i have a few questions.

why use a gray encoder when your code table encoder is binary?

you activate the solenoid when the selected tool is in activate position whereas the schematics show that the solenoid activates at the last falling edge before the selected tool. is it too complicated to program this? or is your solution sufficient?

you only have one direction of rotation, is it too complicated to use mux to manage reverse directions of rotation to block the turret?
