Guys,

How production stable is Gmoccapy right now?
I am not there yet with my new VMC, at least a few more months, but I would like to use Gmpy on a router right now.

Is it master only or can it be patched to 2.5?

gmoccapy will only work on master!

IMHO it is stable! At least I am uskng it on a lathe and my testmill and till now i didn't find any problem!

Well, I tried on a Athlon with 800 MHz and 512 MB ram, but that machine is to slow.

Norbert

Ok, thanks.
Seems that 2.6 might be released in a not-so-very-far future anyway. :)

Will someone please describe in detail how to update gmoccapy on my mill?

I am currently running on master with gmoccapy version 0.9.4. It's been a while since I updated the system and I can't remember the steps I took. My main configuration is in the config folder which is in the linuxcnc folder.

I did update the linuxcnc-dev folder by following the script on the gmoccapy wiki page.

I think in the past I copied files from that folder to the linuxcnc folder, but I can't remember. I'm new to Linux and a lot of the command line stuff is very foreign to me.

Thanks,

Jim

gmoccapy_postgui.hal:5: Pin 'gscreen.hal_hbar_spindle_feedback' does not exist

I can see why that would be the case. Is there an equivalent gmoccaypy hal pin to use?

I guess what I am saying is there should not be any errors running either from the sim folder. I did not edit any files and this was on a clean install.

I tried running gmoccapy from the linuxcnc sim folder on a clean master install and got he following errors:

**** GSCREEN INFO: using STOCK glade file from: /usr/share/linuxcnc/gscreen2.glade ****

**** GSCREEN INFO: using STOCK glade file from: /usr/share/linuxcnc/gscreen2.glade ****

Running Gscreen from the same sim folder did not cause any errors.

This says Gmoccapy didn't find the proper glade files (should be gmoccapy.glade)

and should have been in usr/share/gscreen/skins/gmoccapy

Can you check for such a folder / file please.

I do not have that folder. The only folder under usr/share/gscreen is images and there are eight gif files there.

Ok thanks you.

This is an installed version not a run-in-place version I assume.

If yes then we have to fix the install process - there are missing folders/files.

That may take a few days. Sorry
