From what I can see, different modes can live side by side in the cia402 component without problem.
They already do today. Different pins, yes. For example PV needs two accelerations and a speed pin.
Homing, probing etc their own set of pins. And possibly some small piece of logic, like "at-speed" indication.
And then handle the switching of modes with the position feedback, a bit optimistic this can be done in a general way.

Thanks for the reply! I’ve done all that so I believe my G2 is optimized for LinuxCNC.

However I’m a bit limited by the low ram (8GB), low disk space and etc.

This is nonsense! 4 gb RAM is fine for LinuxCNC but it will tolerate 8gb without ill affect. Linux is more memory efficient than Windows.....

What program does not recognize the card?

The ip is 10.10.10.10
I can ping it.

I just "finished" converting an Axiom AR8 Elite from RichAuto controls to LinuxCNC. I have quite a few details left to tidy up, but it's working.

Configuration and wiring notes are on GitHub , and I made a YouTube video out of the project.

I'd appreciate anyone pointing out stupid mistakes I made.

What IP address is selected on the 7I97T?

What does the command:

ip a

return?

Hi
Coming from my safe world of Mach 3 and 4 I have now made the jump into Linuxcnc.
OMG its complicated!
I have spend almost a week trying to set up Linuxcnc 2.9.4 (and a couple of other versions) on the mesa 7i97T card.
Is there anybody out there who has made this work?
I can make it ping but thats as far as I can get. From here there is only "board not found"

Is there any known challenges in this setup and will it ever work?

Best regards

Nicolaj Hvid

I tested the signals on the rotary control.
The pins for feed.selected light up depending on the selection.
whb.halui.feed-override.scale always remains 0.
whb.halui.max-velocity.value always remains 166.666.

  Use this xml file instead. There are all the ios configured.
Also you have to program on each drive the following:
P2-18 -> 0x0130
P2-19 -> 0x0131
P2-20 -> 0x0132
P2-21 -> 0x0133
P2-22 -> 0x0134
P4-06 -> 0x0000
Or use the attached parameter file if you have the asda-soft.
Rename the *.txt file to *.par

also i have issues accessing the analog and spindle part, don't know if it is linked to the framework or something else.

I don't think I've lost the network.
I've selected the pci card to connect to my network (in fact, I can normally access internet).
BTW, this evening (here's almost 6 pm) I hope to make another try (if my wife allow me image missing /media/kunena/emoticons/unsure.png)

Sounds all sensible to me but I really don't feel competent to comment on the proposed path.
I certainly like the structured approach of your initiative, that is something that has been sorely lacking in other attempts.
I think/hope that Rob will be able to give an educated opinion on it and shape it into a concrete roadmap.

Note that Mitsubishi SSCNET requires a servo cycle <= 222us

defenetly is great to have something faster then 1ms .. ethercat can run at 50us with 16axis but this complex calculations are far slower for now

I think 250us is very pretty goal (common industrial standard) at any hardware and then reduce it based at used hardware

HAL file (with @andypugh suggestion) attached, as well as current ini file

I am new to this forum. I read a post where he Addis he was retrofitting a Kuhlmann machine with new electronics. I am in United States and have a Kuhlmann with a burnt board and need to get it running again. I think he might can give me some direction.
