As I said above I have a Xubuntu version with linuxcnc 2.9pre which works very well and is stable; is it possible to simply add the "SwichKins" branch to do 5axis TCP with "xyzac-trt.ini" on this version?

Forget the "SwitchKins" branch it's been rolled into the current master (ie 2.9pre).

How did you get linuxcnc 2.9pre on that Xubuntu (ie deb install or rip install)?

I'm not familiar with Xubuntu but if it's a deb install you can try to add the repositories in the package manager ( or whatever it's called in Xubuntu) and see if you can update to current master.
If it's a rip install then you should have (most) of the dependencies installed and I would do a rip install again.

Ok the key is not working for me either so that is not your fault. I'll see what I can find.

Ok, skip adding the key and try to add the repositories in the synaptic manager.

Thanks, I also have a Linux Mint version with built-in linuxcnc 2.8. Can I do something with it, or is it better to do with Xubuntu.

I give you the link to download Xubutu Linuxcnc 2.9Pre RT 5.29

you can certainly try to add the repositories in the xubuntu and in linuxmint and then check if you get the packages in synaptic.
Doesn't break anything if it doesn't work.

there is quite a collection of ISO there.
