The 7I77 analog section is powered by the 5V logic power


OK, so the non-appearance of the smart-serial channels was due to the 5V power being shorted?

new2linux: Is the dmesg output the same now that the 5V is wired correctly? Or can you now see the smart-serial channels for the analogue section?

This is the most recent changes to error, ini and hal files:

I have added a 24 v power supply, power going to TB2 at pin 1 (pos field power) and pin 8 ground.

The CR3 light, does light now!!, I have swapped encoder 0 & 1 "went to" encoder 2 & 3 located at TB3 & TB4; in addition to the associated DRV 0 & 1 "went to" DRV 2 & 3, with the hope, if there was something possibly just goofed up at the original settings. In addition the red CR16 (Field I/O fault) and CR15 does not blink, or come on at all.

For initial testing, its best that you do not connect any I/O (encoders etc) to the 7I77

Is 7I77 CR1 illuminated?

What voltage do you measure at 7I77 TB1?

Are 7I77 jumpers W4 and W12 in the left hand position?

Is the 7I77 connected to the 5I25 cards P3 (DB25) connector with a IEEE1284 cable?

I have installed 2 of them (7i77) and i was wondering the same thing. Conned through all that dmesg but could not find anything wrong. The pinout in the Linuxcnc error report was a bit off.
But knowing PCW is always here, i refrain myself from commecting on things i do not have at least a certain degree of certenty, so i just read and learn.

Now you are on the right track, as it is communicating with 7i77 and finding the analog outs. It just looks like you do not have any encoder connected to encoder port 4. You can just ommit that line and move on, until you connect the encoder to that line.
Try that and report back.

PCW Many thanks! The linux is on a computer that is not connected to the internet, so a memory stick is the way it works. I have used the copy and past to get a file (in a text editor) saved on the linux machine usb stick and go to win 10 machine for internet. Now at this point I can attach if I add the .txt to the file name (as seen below) or it appears to be copy and paste, like what I was doing here. So maybe try attachment for change, please comment.

If I do not have 110 v power on the error code will be 56.
IF power up the 121 code is displayed as the files show.
