You can NOT wire the 7i77 to drives and then wire another power supply to it, more smoke will come out of 7i77 and/or other things.
Please read this thoroughly, and refer to other material on the web for anything related.

You nearly had it sorted way back right before you blew it all up. I thought that you had tested the (old) drives with a small voltage to the command inputs and you were able to make the motors turn, before the miss-wiring mistake. This is the same test that Dan is suggesting. You need to get every thing back to the point you were before the disaster. What parts have you replaced? You need to confirm that those new parts and any old ones are ok and working (ie wired up correctly this time) before you are ready for the Mesa hardware to control them.

The 7i77 output comes from an MC33179. These have current limiting drives. So if he didn't drive it past the rails, it is probably ok. At that, there are still five more outputs and he is only going to use three.

Many thanks again to tommylight for an outstanding "

" Servo Tuning how to! Just a great job, many thanks!
Many thanks to andypugh, Todd Zuercher, and lakeweb for all your great help!
I have carefully followed tommylight's direction, I was not able to jog (this is the "-" "+" buttons, then a "continuous" flyout tab) ether servo. If you apply 1.4 to 1.5 v (must be in this range, started low and went until servo moved) to servo amplifier coming from TB5; DRV 0 & DRV 1, each servo will turn at low speed. When you turn and see "DRO & HAL Conf" change value, until error in AXIS "joint 1 following error" and then the DRO stops working.
Attached are the screen shots at the point I stopped.
The tree structure is not exactly the same as the example.
Any suggestions would be warmly welcomed.
Many, many thanks!

If you have the amps working again, the next step is to start connecting and confirming the connections of the control wiring (7i77 to the amps). First thing is to make sure that the amps are disabled when Linuxcnc is placed in e-stop and machine off, next make sure they are enabled (powered up) when Linuxcnc is in machine on. Now is also a good time to make sure that things like limit switches and other inputs and outputs are working.
Next make sure the encoder feed back is correct. (DRO in Linuxcnc is working.)
Finally make sure your analog signal wiring is connected from the 7i77 (QAn,/QAn) to the terminals you connected your DC test signal to on your amps. (I'm a little surprised it took as much as 1.5v to get any movement. Do you know how much current was used? Make sure the resistance between those 2 terminals on the amp is more than 2000Ohms.)
Now you should be ready to start tuning the PID loops.

Todd, many thanks! The estop is an in line before the power supply, (old school red button). I am using 2 transformers (24v & 5v to power field voltage to TB1 & TB2), both show lights working, there are no limit switches or other outputs.
The DRO works in the "linuxcnc mode", I believe it is close and the correct direction.
The analog signal wiring are the ones going from the low side of the amp/power supply (on Prototrak all one) to the DRV0 & DRV1, these are in the very 1st terminal location and 2nd terminal location on both DRV0 & DRV1. I am not completely shore what (QAn,/QAn) are, but I am checking now?
many thanks!
