If the 7i84 is wired to 7i77, yank it out and test again.

Yes the 7i84 is connected to the 5i25 through the Smart serial connection of the 7i77.
Returning the sserial_port0=300xxx (I only have six digits in my HAL, you recommended seven.´sserial_port0=x0xxxxx)
With the 7i84 connected, I get the original failure code.
[edit] Rebooting withe the Cat 5 cable [removed from the] 7i84, returns a more typical error listing the first missing 7i84 HAL pin.
I checked the Field power supply to the 7i84, and it is receiving 24V

Omit the lines with 7i84, start LinuxCNC.
Test if the 7i77 is still functional.
Or just make a rough new config for 5i25/7i77 .

I meant to have 8.
Though it doesn't really matter how many x's there are.

I made a new test machine config with PNCConf, with just the 7i77, and it loads fine, displaying all pins.
When I connect the 7i84, I checked the LED status, and have red on both the 7i84's CR6 Field I/O fault, and the 7i77's CR16, indicating the same. Field I/O fault. I guess te next step would be to pull the chopped Cat 5 cable, and do a continueity test to see if all wires are still conducting.
[Edit] I checked the cable. Continuity between both ends is fine on all 8 wires.
Any other suggestions?

Not working at a company i was managing 2 years ago, we had trucks going to Austria twice a week so i could have sent you a new 7i84, i have 2.
Wait, are you in Austria, pretty sure you have a strong Australian accent ?
Get a 7i84 from eusurplus.com, they are very fast, i got almost all of my Mesa stuff from them.

Hi Tommy,
It is a New Zealand accent, but close
So you think there is no more troubleshooting to determine whether the issue is the 7i77's SS port or the 7i84's port?

Since i doubt you have another SS card to test with, i concluded it would be better to get another one since there is no way of testing further that i know of, and the time wasted is not worth the 70 or 80 or 90 euro.
But, PCW is always watching and he always has ideas and ways of testing stuff.
Not sure if there is a posibility of doing a loopback test on an SS port, so a post on the "driver boards" section might speed up things a bit.
BTW, i had a chat with a New Zeland ambasador here about moving there some 10 years ago, it was not that hard. Nature there is magnificent.

I don't think it is easy to emigrate to NZ. One of my old friends from NZ has been in a documented legal partnership with his british girlfriend for 9 years. He does contracts all over the world (aviation) and she goes with him. NZ Immigration was pretty tough on proving that this was not just a marriage of convenience.
I see there is also a Mesa vender in Austria now. I wll contact them as see if they have one on stock. Thanks for your help.

Hi to all and lets hope 2021 will be better than 2020. Mark sorry to hear (see) for the machine crash. Gmoccapy has combined slider for both max vel and feed override because most of the users (including me) use the that knob (instead of feed hold button) to safely approach the work during a program. You just turn the knob down as you are approaching the work and looking to the distance to go. My millplus controller has separate knobs for rapids and feed, so you just keep turn down the rapids as you are approaching the work and suddenly the rapid move ends and a hi feed programmed motion starts because you have the feed knob to 100% or 150%. I have changed dippers a few times because of this so now I have both knobs to 0% at start of not proven program.
