Hi
Just a note of explanation
lucrece_lu is a company or individual who makes this item in Taiwan
He has advertised it on the Mach forum www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php?acti...u=33091;sa=showPosts as user anthony_lu
along with a video which appears to show it cutting circles in polystyrene using Mach.
No info as to what the processor is. (If it is the Vortex86 processor used by roboard for their robotics controllers, it might be possible to compile a RT kernel for it.)
My suggestion lucrece_lu - install LinuxCNC on it and show us it working ( or send me one and I will have a go! )
regards

This is blatantly commercial, but the computer is so cute I think I have forgiven him already.

I think I'll wait and see before thinking of deleting this commercial thread...

Hi lucrece_lu ,
OK you have got our interest.
When you post the video of LinuxCNC working on the box, could you also post a spec sheet for it.
You will need to indicate what the install process was, ie. a straight EMC2 2.3.0 LiveCD creation of a USB thumb-drive and booting from that untouched,
or has it required changes (new rtai kernel, realtime and emc2 re-build or whatever).
Was that latency test shot taken as soon as the dialog appeared, or is it a realistic loaded figure?
You will find a lot of the forum members are far more knowledgeable technically than your average Mach user
and that they are not interested in buying a 'box with promises',
but are open to considering the possibilities raised by a technically sound new piece of hardware.
regards

the EMC2 demo video
1. install with liveCD directly no special step, but due the LAN chip is not in standard, so no internet in directl isntall, have to patch kernel or install LAN drive, the patch and driver is available.
2. the demo is use 2nd LPT port, the NCBox can have 2 LPT ports, 1st (port 278) is on rear side (physical) , the 2nd LPT (port 378) is use BIOS simulate to LPT port
3. boot device can be USB or CF card.
4. Any question are welcome.
5. Hardware spec.
CPU : PMX-1000 / Vortex86MX+ (933MHz)
RAM : 1GB DDR2 (on board)
