The OLED is about 50 times slower
? I'm amazed, I compare the timing interface of oled ea w204 xlg and lcd dem20485 fgh,
it's very similar: data setup time and data hold time for example

curiously I do not know the timing of the thread Andy does not specify
in his test:

my motherboard is very fast, i3 7100

What is your servo thread rate ( I was testing at the default 1 KHz)
(the CPU speed is not important)

The slow timing on the OLED is the maximum time to process commands
600 usec on the Newhaven and in the 10s of usec range on LCDs

I repeat again one faith I use the test of andy or it does not fix the servo thread
and I can not load "loadrt motmod etc ..." I can not find an example of syntax
andy test is here:

First I would figure out why you cannot run a 1000000 ns (1 ms ) servo thread
since this is the default servo thread time.

Edit are you sure you tried 1000000 ns not 100000 ns? 100000 ns would definatley fail

The 600 usec max time is listed in the "Table of commands" page 7

it's a little mess in my configurations with card test etc. :)

with a simpler config I mounted the
servo-thread at 3,000,000 ns, no change.

Also not sure when the LCD component sends the character to turns off the cursor but if the hal file startup was not in the expected order, this might get lost

I use 2.7.14 wheezy

thank you for helping Peter :)

on occasion if you could only test the Andy's little program in a terminal without axis
and try to include the "loadrt motmod line" to set the servo-thread

Not sure why i would add motmot since I am not testing motion
I will try the halcmd script Tuesday

My setup is:
hal file with LCD/net commands setup to pipe lcd comps char out to 7I73
LinuxCNC 2.8

And I see no cursor issues (cursor is turned off when LCD component starts)

2.8 is with PREEMPT-RT

motmod is used to configure the value of the servo-thread
but he refuses the line ?
