Mesa 7i96 with SPINX1 to control spindle speed

No rush, I think we made a lot of progress with your tool, like I said, configuring the Mesa 7i96 is not really documented well if at all.

I am still having the issue with setp. I will continue to test it.

setp requires 2 arguments, 3 given

I reloaded one of the files I had working, prior to your update a save would trigger the extra setp, this time it did not, I was able to load my file in and didn't have to make any changes for it to work.

The only thing I noticed was you changed the version to 1.4, but the title in the running program still says 1.3.6.

I was also thinking maybe to add your tool into the Configuring LinuxCNC section. I don't know of any of the others that can handle the configuration of the PWM firmware and setup on the Mesa cards. Just a thought.

Ok, my config seems to be working fine, Now I just am wondering about my output from the SPINX1 card. I am not getting anything from the digital potentiometer output of the SPINX1, the motor just turns at full speed.  

I think I am missing a connection?, but I don't know what is missing. I am hoping PCW can help me, or someone else familiar with this. 

I have attached some photos. The intensity of the speed LED goes up as the speed sent to it increases, so that seems to be working. The enabled also comes on when it should be running, so that seems fine as well. The direction stays lit as soon as I power it up, I guess that is ok.

Did you measure the voltage on SPV relative to SP- at various spindle speeds?
(and also make sure the the voltage between SP+ and SP- is a steady 10V)

I may have messed up my speed control,, now I need to see if that is ok. I do see about 10.8 V steady between the two poles. I am just not sure what is going on with my controller, the manual pot was working and now it isn't. The speed control pot doesn't seem like it is at mains voltage. I'll confirm once I make sure it's ok and let you know.
