The Max velocity is in the ini file or in the Hal? . I think when I used the config program it defaulted to 60 and I never adjusted it.

It is generally in the INI file, it's a quick experiment to increase it. (I would do it in stages....)

Ok got a basic tune on the machine, just one last problem. I changed my spindle over to port 5 on my 7i77 card (the switchable on) now I can't start my spindle. Anyone have a quick bit of code to fix it.

I would net hm2_5i25.0.7i77.0.1.spinena to the spindle enable signal

Well making chips today (wood) I will post a pic when its done in a few hours. The only issue is the speed. The machine is running slow. Only about 60 ipm. I have it programmed for 150 ipm. I have a copy of my hal and ini attached if any one sees what I have wrong I would appericiate the fix or hint. The machine should rapid at almost 800 ipm. (787 ipm) fpr x and y and 590 ipm for z

I wonder if it is

[DISPLAY]
...
MAX_LINEAR_VELOCITY = 1.000000

That would be 1 inch per second = 60 ipm. (Though I don't think it should be that, it's easy to change to find out)

Well thanks again Andy. Speed is up to 600 ipm. Also here are the first to pieces I did as tests. Just real rough carvings.

And a little video

Well can't get the video to show. If a mod could fix the link please

Nice!

high IPM is just an awesome time-saver, even if not cutting at high IPM. IMO, most mills are limited to 5-8k usable rpm, and a smaller machine such as yours would be happy with a 3/8" EM @ 0.030" stepover 0.5" DOC and 200-300ipm cutting alum, steel might need a tad less step-over, still keep the IPM high and engagement angle low on the cutter. I would really like to know how your setup handles higher IPM cutting.

You must have 780 ipm max velocity. Do you need this really, I would decrease to 600 ipm, although these machines can up to 1800 ipm. But if you make the first part, that speed is much to high, if you have a fault, you haven't any chance to stop the machine before the crash.
