Try watching parport.0.pin-15-in directly (or whatever pin you've connected it to). It is possible that you might need to use the parport.0.pin-15-in-not pin to invert your signal. If you set the encoder enable pin, does the encoder ever reset when you rotate the spindle? To be honest I've never really used the hal encoder component, (other than playing with it a little once without an index.)

I went back in hal scope and it turned up. I just have to invert my x axis now and everything should be OK.
Also wondering about feed per rev. Is there any special hal I have to add. I tried a test and it did not feed ipr.

You need to connect the motion.spindle-index-enable, motion.spindle-speed-in and motion.spindle-revs pins.

Ok x axis is reversed and reset correctly. I had it set for double. Move .5 in linux and tool post moves .5 opps for a lathe it moves only .250.
andy any way you could actually give me the linux code for the ipr that I can drop in my custon hal.
I'm also hoping to get threading going also.
my linux code writting anmd understanding is really low. even with this being my 2nd machine. It speaks greatly of the help here from everyone.

If I understood the question, then maybe...
What do you mean by "ipr" and what is "linux code"?
