you are about 12 posts late :). we are well past that, now im trying to figure out why probe basic isnt starting.

The installation method has changed for QTPYVCP and ProbeĀ  BAsic. Refer to the relevant forum section here for how tos

Note: Using POSIX non-realtime

No real time kernel.
The errors refer to VTK, not sure but that should be Vulkan drivers.

hmm

so this is something that should have been installed with linux, before i got to linuxcnc?

this is why i always pick the release versions, i really have no clue what to do with linux haha.

Take Rod's advice and his howto, even i switched to BookWorm from using Mint on everything.
Although since you need ProbeBasic ( i really, really wish someone somehow would name it something else as there is a probe routine with the same name) might want to try LcVete's way

as i said, i literally followed that to the letter.

This is where we ended up so far. most of the errors have been dumb stuff so far (network issues, installing as root, etc), now we are at this latest one.

2 replies, so which one did you follow? :)
One side note that gets missed sometimes, before installing LinuxCNC always, always do
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
skipping this has a tendency of causing some issues later down the line despite LinuxCNC installing.
