What other options for the drivers are there?

is this what we are looking for?

I think that helps. I think that is normally known as the AI64. You might find this thread on CNCzone interesting:
www.cnczone.com/forums/fanuc/127192-need...ulse-coder-info.html

And you might recognise the name of the first poster.

As you have a 5i25 and 7i77 the easiest way to see if you can read the encoders would be to make a cable for the RS422 expansion port on your 7i77 and to flash the 5i25 with a firmware that has a Mesa Fanuc encoder function on the RS422 port.

You _could_ use the Pico converter, by the looks of things, but I suspect that you would lose the advantages of absolute encoders (Jon can maybe advise here).

If you use the Mesa module then you have absolute position data digitally in to LinuxCNC but have to commutate the motors in software (which works, I have a mill and a lathe working this way). If you were to use the STMBL servo drives then you would have the commutation in hardware in the drives (which is better) but also have the option of absolute position data sent digitally back to LinuxCNC via a Mesa card.

So I think that a set of STMBL drives would be a good solution except for two drawbacks: 1) They are only rated at about half the peak current of your existing drives 2) Nobody sells them. I think that a new order is being placed by one of the developers, but this is not yet a commercial product.
On the plus side, they match your Fanuc hardware somewhat:

probably i did not get the question
when i said i have the 5i25 7i77 combo i meant that i use them in the Intermac , For the CMS i will purchase a different combo

if the STMBL is not a commercial product it is out of my league

What is your opinion for the Mesa 8i20 since that is a commercial product?

andypugh wrote They are only rated at about half the peak current of your existing drives
in what way will this effect the motors?
they will be weaker with less torque?

Peak amperage is very important on a machine tool.
For example when the machine changes direction at high speeds, it requires the most from the motor/drive, therefore it will reach amperage higher than the requested to maintain the stalling torque.
It will lower the acceleration achieved, that for most of machines is more important than the top speed.

I have 5 of them, running my mill and my lathe. They work fine. But. like the Pico drives and the STMBL, they can provide only half the current of your exiting drives.

This means that your machine will have lower acceleration.

Depending on what you plan to use the machine for this might not actually matter. Or it might be very important.

i understand that i have to compromised
The question is from the data of the 8i20 and label of the motor can we calculate (estimate) what to expect (more or less) will the motor run to what percentage of his capabilities
Also how long do you use the drivers(amplifiers) are they reliable?
and what else i have to replace in the machine to convert it?

WOW... I'm no expert but.... Your machine would accelerate like a 92 year old man driving his old Chevy pickup.... Nice and smooth but terribly painful to watch.
this is a comment of a friend in the forum for the acceleration settings in the intermac my other linuxcnc machine
