7i96 step + or -, + other question was created by Leon82
On my parallel port I had to invert the step pin for my drives to run on their presents in stepconf.
Should I use the step - plug on the 7i96?

If it works properly, leave it as is.

Probably STEP-
STEP+ will have positive step pulses
Normally this will suit drives with the optcoupler common connected to GND
STEP- will have negative step pulses
Normally this will suit drives with the optcoupler common connected to +5V

Thanks. I'm still laying everything out on a panel but have another question.
I have a treadmill motor with a 2100 control. People have made pwm pulse generators to use them without the treadmill panel like this pic.
Can I use the pwm from the 7i96 with it?
I would think so I just need to figure out the wire schematic. The blue is pwm signal. I would imagine a ground has to go to the board also.
And energize it with the spindle pin thru a relay.

Be careful...
Is this PWM input isolated from line voltage?

I'm not sure if this will help

I believe so. There is an on board transformer and one of the wires sends 9 volts to the control panel.Be careful...

I have found a few videos where people use an AC motor control with a bridge rectifier.
They usually have to change to a 200k potentiometer for better scaling.
Could I use this instead of a potentiometer?

I would remove the Blue PWM 0-5V from the motor controller to the console, and in its stead hook a pwmgen output from the 7i96 to the console, the 7i96 is able to get the 5v square wave signal you need, the page you sent is very vague about the square wave required, but i think is a very low HZ wave maybe 100HZ or so.
But PCW is the expert, you may want to wait for his opinion...
