As you configured did you change the main numbers or only testing higher numbers
and without the actuly Files now in use its a Gambeling to answer
this issue depends on so many things
GUI Used Latency set Max Min VEL ACC Driversettings Microsteps ETC..
Replied by bbsr_5a on topic help, no stepper movement
So on the x axis. If I do the following
From the 7i96 Dir (-) to —>driver dir(-)
Dir (+) to —>driver dir(+)
If I do 5v 7I96 --> Pul (+) Along with STEP+ From board to puls (-) on driver I can get counter clockwise rotation only on motor.
With the current Hal and Ini files when I jog the axis in linuxcnc it moves slower then if I test axis in the pnncof wizard. Any idea why that is ?

no movement with your recommendation
i get movement 1 way
7I96 +5 to Drive STEP+
7I96 STEP+ to Drive STEP-
7I96 DIR- to Drive DIR-
7I96 DIR+ to Drive DIR+
i took voltage reading when doing axis tuning in Pncconf wizard
resting | triggered
7I96 STEP- .510 V | jog (-) trigged 1.079V , jog (+) triggered 0.688V
7I96 STEP+ 1.53 V | jog (-) trigged 0.880V, jog (+) triggered 0.6261V
7I96 DIR - .239 V | jog (-) trigged 0.19V, jog (+) triggered 0.441V
7I96 DIR + .001V | jog (-) triggered 1.430V , jog + 0.056V
voltage reading when jogging x axis in in linuxcnc
resting | triggered
7I96 STEP- 1.153 V | jog (-) trigged 1.479V, jog (+) triggered 0.688V
7I96 STEP+ 1.400 V | jog (-) trigged 0.7210V , jog (+) triggered 1.400V (no change)
7I96 DIR - .942V | jog (-) trigged 0.19V, jog (+) triggered 0.9421V (no change)
7I96 DIR + .0056V | jog (-) triggered 1.540V, jog + 0.056V
I don't no at this point...

Sounds like a damaged driver on the 7I96

is there away to test this?
for a quick second it motors where working when i hit jog - and + they would spin clock wise and counter clockwise but that was just false hope. looks like I'm ordering a new mesa Card is it worth jumping up to the 7i76E card?

Yes, when you power up the card (linuxCNC not running),
STEPN+ and DIRN+ should all be high (close to 5V),
STEPN- and DIRN- should all be low (close to 0V)
After you start LinuxCNC (but are still in estop)
STEPN+ and DIRN+ should all be low (close to 0V),
STEPN- and DIRN- should all be high (close to 5V)

power on not running linux
STEPN+ and DIRN+ (close to 1.5V),
STEPN- and DIRN- (close to 0V)
running linuxcnc
STEPN+ and DIRN+ (close to 1.3V),
STEPN- and DIRN- (1.1 V)
these are the readings

Right so that indicates that the 7I96 step/dir driver chips have been damaged
