5i25/6i25 bitfile for DMB4350-8B bob was created by 0jw
Hello, I have a 6i25 I'm trying to figure out how to set up with the DMM DMB4350-8B with 3 dyn4 drive as step/dir. I set it up a few years ago to work with the ST-V2 and can't remembered how I went about it.
Do I need to create a custom bitfile? Or use the mesa configuration wizard?
I found a 5i25_dmmbob1x2 files. But I have no idea if this has anything to do with that bob.
I'm completely lost at the moment on how to do this. It would be greatly appreciated if someone can guide me in the right direction.

Take a look at the 5i25_dmmbob1x2.pin pinout file and see if it matches your BOBs pinout

That looks to be close to what I need. I'm not sure how difficult it is to make changes.
All of the step and direction pins look to be the same. But I think I would need pin 14 for drive enable and pin 15 for emergency stop. I dont see any other input for a probe. Maybe I can use A axis limit input.

Is it possible to have a tool hight setter on the same pin as a probe? Maybe I can also do that with limits and free up some pins so I can set one as e-stop in pncconf? I'm not sure this is the correct way to do this. But I still dont know if drive enabled will work

I've tried installing xilinx ise suit 14.5 to hopefully edit the bitfile and got the webpack license for version. It no longer asks for license. But it closes every time I try to do anything.

There is no issue using pins 14 (or 16,17) as general purpose outputs
or 10,11,12,13,15 as general purpose inputs. I doubt you need to change the
firmware unless a fixed pin (like a stepgen or PWMgen) was on a wrong pin

Ok, that make things a lot easier lol. I installed mesaflash then
sudo mesaflash --device 5i25 --write 5i25_dmmbobx2.bit
and
sudo mesaflash --device 5i25 --reload
it looks as if all went well as far as i can tell.
but i cant find 5i25_dmmbob1x2 in pncconf. should i be using stepconf or edit it in the HAL file?

Probably the best option would be to use pncconf and select
firmware for a similar parallel port type breakout (say prob_rfx2)
and then patch any minor differences (if any) in the hal file

I assigned the IO randomly. the pin setting page after that has no step/dir option and the help section for it is empty
