#Top for actual machine - bottom for testing.
net estop-ext <= parport.0.pin-11-in-not
#net estop-ext <= parport.0.pin-11-in
Those are in there, round middle, not at the bottom, do not edit the bottom ones.

Ah great! I deleted the -"not" and now it is working at my computer in my house. Will move the computer to the garage and try it out with the lathe.

Ok, the good news is that LinuxCNC behaves like it should but unfortunately it still can not control the lathe
Is there a way to check the connection between LinuxCNC and the lathe? A green light that indicates communication would be nice.
andypugh wrote something about "enable config problem", is that the next step in this investigation? If it is, I have to admit that I do not know how to check it.
By the way, thank you for your patience tommylight.

They probably removed the latching chip to make it work with mach3.. This thread might help you get a better overview of the pins and what they do.. (there are also configs - but remember it is based on a non-molested compact 5 pc..

lol - I saw you found my thread on here.. (I looked but didn't find it - so I linked the cnczone version)
Ok - make sure you have the safety 'plug' wired in correctly..
#Top for actual machine - bottom for testing.
net estop-ext <= parport.0.pin-11-in-not
#net estop-ext <= parport.0.pin-11-in
this has to be correct 'and' the plug for the saftey circuit has to be right.
plug x6 on the back of the lathe is what hooks to the 'chip guard' not all machines have that - so if not.
one of ours sockets has short wires jumpered in...
Looks like jumper pins 7 to 5 and 1 to 3 (from the schematic)

Hi Sam, was this message meant for me or for Kosta79? Because I do not think that mine ever was controlled under Mach3. I mean the one about the latching chip.

Yes Paul - you. Didn't notice this was 2 different people.
Those configs should work for your unmolested pc 5. Check the safety plug.

Thanks for answering! I know that there is an outlet (X6) for the chip guard at the back of the lathe, there is even a plug in the outlet but no cable. It could be that 7 and 5 + 1 and 3 are connected to each other inside the plug, I will check that tomorrow!

I have now checked the chip guard plug and the wires inside are connected as they should. When the spindle motor is running and I pull the plug from the machine then it emergency stops like it should. When I connect the plug the spindle motor runs normally again.
Any other suggestions? I am not sure but I think that I read somewhere that not all PCI to parallel port cards work with LinuxCNC. Could that be an issue here?

there are some switches under the back cover - I don't remember how they should be set. when you change the estop - does the estop on linuxcnc change?
