Sam might be on to something, that sounds more like miss used gearbox

I think the problem is related to the gearbox because there is a set of gears missing. I have not pulled of the belt yet but I will do that to see if the sound comes from the gearbox or the motor. I assume that I have to start look for the gear set between the motor and the spindle, otherwise I am afraid I can not regulate the span of the rpm...

can you take a picture of the rpm chart on the door - you are not missing any gears but might be missing an idler pulley...
