Regarding the homed & state pins... they weren't in halshow.  That was the first (maybe second) thing I thought to check while debugging, but that pin didn't exist under carousel in halshow.
 
Those are parameters, so you need to look in the parameters tab.

Maybe

sudo apt-get update

then

sudo apt-cache search linuxcnc

sudo apt-cache search linuxcnc


 
sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-cache seach linuxcnc
linuxcnc-uspace - motion controller for CNC machines and robots
