How long ago did you get the 2.5 from buildbot? Your version is not automatically setting up the sserial tabs. connectot 3 tab;s unused channel # 1 and 0 should automatically be set to '7i77 mode 0 Card'

I think maybe your buildbot version is old.

cmorley, I can lend a hand.

I've got the released version of 2.5 installed. Do I unzip the files that you provided in your first post or is there a newer one?

So I actually was trying to run pncconf over the weekend was getting the error below. After digging into the python I narrowed it down to the missing firmware files.

As a suggestion, can you have some kind of popup to complain when the firmware files are missing rather than getting this obscure error?

It looks like in on_basicinfo_next() method in the
for boardnum in (0,1):
when you attempt to enumerate the "model" list, the value of search doesn't get set because the "model" list is empty.

That may be because you need to be installing linuxcnc. What program are you using to update your software? You can search for linuxcnc in the Synaptic Package Manager.

Actually the Synaptic Package Manager saw the Linuxcnc was newer and updated to that and uninstalled the old emc2.

well a month and a half ago is definitely old.
I added stuff about three weeks ago.

I had buildbot sim and I don't remember it updating for a while either.
I don't notice because I use compiled versions all the time.

Drembedded exactly what were you missing? PNCconf does some checks for missing firmware so I need to know the special case you found.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear..

Over this last weekend I tried pncconf that was part of the 2.5 release. I wasn't aware of your zip file with the 5i25 firmware files. So when I tried running pncconf, I got that python error.

My suggestion is that if someone else tries to run pncconf with no firmware files in the /lib/firmware/hm2/5i25, we should catch that and complain to the user rather than letting python throw an error.

Just a suggestion :-)
