yes.
so the ENA+ isn't changing but the output switches from 0 to +10 and you can not change the dac value at all?

You also must select a fast or slow dac value plus a jog button for output, if everything is working properly.

When I press the enable amp button in the open loop test, the ENA3+/ENA3- pins close contact, as they should. The AOUT3 pin shoots straight to +10V, which it should not. Interestingly though, the hm2_5i25.0.7i77.0.1.analogout3 HAL meter window reads 0 and if I press the jog + or - buttons, the meter reads the correct fast DAC speed or slow DAC speed value. But the actual voltage at the AOUT3 pin is always +10V when Enable Amp is on.

Can you use halmeter to check the maxlin minlin and scalemax that the 5i25.0.7i77.0.1 is set at ?
should be 10, -10, 10 respectably.

They are not - they are actually as below:
maxlim: -10 incorrect
minlim: 10 incorrect
scalemax: 10 correct

I'll see if I can find the lines.

I fixed them too. Open loop test works great now. Sweet!

Still curious about the firmware resetting itself to 2x 7i76 every time. I'll see what's going on with the spindle after I figure out what's going on with my encoder scale (not a software issue, I'm just not sure why it isn't working out to be what I think it is ).

excellent ! Thank you so much for your help!

One thing I have noted about the spindle. If you are using AOUT5 It has a separate enable pin that PNCconf does not connect. ( I didn't notice that till now)

If you could send me the .pncconf file maybe I can reproduce the error. This file will be in the linuxcnc/config folder.

Thank you for your guidance.

The spindle will use AOUT5 but I wasn't using that for my test, I was switching it on manually and just checking whether the AXIS velocity number registered anything.

I'll attach my .pncconf file. Note that I see this problem of the firmware resetting every time I restart pncconf and load my_linuxcnc_config. Not sure if I was clear about that.

Thanks,
Max

That's weird but I don't think it's a problem.

As far as the spindle goes, I think I need to learn how to add a spindle speed indicator in AXIS. The Vel: number that's displayed now must not be for spindle speed but actual traverse speed.

Now I'm trying to control the A axis in AXIS and I cannot. Any kind of command results in a joint 3 following error and no movement. I imagine that this is not a PNCConf issue but some other configuration problem, so time for more research. Thanks for all your help.
