I’m building a plasma cnc table. There are four motors, one for the x axis, one for the z axis, and two On the opposite ends for the y axis. How do I sync the two y motors up?

First I would read this:-
linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/plasma/plasma-cnc-primer.html

and

linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/plasma/plasmac-user-guide.html

Basically you would have two drives and Linuxcnc will sync them and auto square the gantry from within the INI file

I’m using 2.9 if that changes anything. But I have the other motors set up and configured. I’m not sure very well what I’m doing when it comes the altering the ini or Hal files. Each motor has its own driver

On the Mesa page:

select (on a stepgen combo box):
StepGen -> Axis -> main ->X Axis Stepgen

then (on another combo box):
StepGen -> Tandem Axis -> ->X2 Tandem Axis Stepgen

Moved and post added here.

-If you used pncconf to create the config, use it again to edit an existing config, choose that config then at the stepgen page select one drive/motor as the main axis and the other as the tandem axis.
That will set everything for you, the only thing left to check is if the two motors are working together by going in the same direction. If not, open the calibration from the machine menu in AXIS GUI and add - to scale of the motor that is going in the wrong direction.

Sounds like you are jogging in joint mode.
Do you see numbers or letter on (I assume you are using) AXIS's display?
Did you set up homing?

You need to home that machine first, then jog.
Do you have home switches on the machine?
