qtplasmac (Operation Error: hm2/hm2_7i76e.0:) in middle of cut

Category: Plasmac

OK that's Intel so needs IRQ coalescing disabled

Before messing with the network setup its possible
to do this from the command line:

sudo ethtool -C [device] rx-usecs 0

where [device] is the name of the Ethernet device connected
to the Mesa card (usually something like eno1 or enp2s5 or similar)

You can determine this name with the command:

ip a

lspci  | grep -i eth

The character after lspci is a vertical bar
( usually shift \ ), not an 'L'

qtplasmac (Operation Error: hm2/hm2_7i76e.0:) in middle of cut

Category: Plasmac

My problem is not being caused by low latency due to overheating here is the temperature at the time of the error. Mach 3 would never do this using this same PC I cant get a full cut and it is very frustrating. please tell me what PCs you guys are using to not have these problems please let me know where to find instructions on how to start a cut in the middle of the file so at least cut recovery is simpler.

5x10 servo router rebuild - analog of step/dir with mesa card?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Yes, the servos have relative encoders. The previous owner of this unit had always planned to upgrade the control so that the encoders would be useful. It makes sense to me as well.

Since the 7I76e variants are not in stock right now, and my other machine that I will eventually build is a stepper motor machine, would it make more sense for me to buy one of the analog boards that are in stock right now? I suspect that some more snooping around the Mesa store might be in order...

5x10 servo router rebuild - analog of step/dir with mesa card?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Do the servo drives have encoder outputs? Al Yaskawa i have worked with do have them, so since you have 7i76E just add a 7i85 or 7i85S for encoder feedback and you get the best of both worlds, easy tuning and position control even when drives are disabled.

5x10 servo router rebuild - analog of step/dir with mesa card?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

I've got a 5' x 10' CNC router with a failed Mach 3 control. It has Yaskawa Servos (SGMGH-09ACA61) and was set up for step/dir with an ethernet smooth stepper. It was "open loop" with that control. It has four motors for the 3 main axis and a 5th motor for a rotary axis. I might not use the 5th axis but I do have a crazy idea for an automated dust collection "axis" that would probably use stepper motors.

I have a Mesa 7I76e that I bought several years ago for another machine that has yet to be completed and I think this would be my fastest/easiest control to drop in but would still leave me open loop to the control. Instead I've been thinking of running with analog servo signals and the encoder feedback into LinuxCNC using a 7I92TF with a 7I77 or a single 7I97T. It seems the 7I97T might be a bit light on general I/O since the machine has an ATC spindle and several other pneumatics that need to be controlled and sensed so I'm leaning towards the former combo.

Any suggestions wrt to Mesa card availability and the advantage of using analog vs step/dir in this application?

Plasmac Breakaway roadblock (mental one anyway)

Category: Plasmac

Is this right?
# --- PLASMAC:BREAKAWAY ---
net plasmac:breakaway  <= hm2_7i76e.0.7i76.0.0.input-20
net plasmac:breakaway  => db_breakaway.in

I'm confused here. Ihm2_7i76e.0.7i76.0.0.input-20 lights up in halshow
but plasmac:breakaway does not change state so neither does the pin
Any ideas?

7i76e to Spindle analogic from Cortini mill L300

Category: Driver Boards

Hello, terribly sorry to revive this thread, but I am looking for someone who can help me re-wire my Cortini L300 that a acquired with the boards unplugged. I have a partial manual and have just finished rebuilding the fried spindle control board, but I am not sure which wires the interruptor connects to, nor where the AC input goes into the board as that page of my manual is missing.

Thank you

OK it looks like you have the Realtek Ethernet setup for the 7I76E

Is that what you had intended?

If so, you need to

1. Install the Realtek 8168 DKMS driver
2. Disable Ethernet and ASPM PCIE power management in the kernel command line

1. Mesa must be wired directly to PC
2. set up the networking using network-manager:

LinuxCNC machine setup with Rasperry Pi4 and Mesa 7i76 for communication

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Hello everyone, after the resignation of my very esteemed colleague, I need to set up the software on a functional system using a LinuxCNC mesa7i76e card with a Raspberry Pi 4. When the SD card got corrupted, I had to reinstall the software, but I have no knowledge about this subject. I downloaded the LinuxCNC 2.8.0-pi4 image file from the internet and wrote it to the SD card. The system runs, but I can't establish communication with the Mesa card during the setup. If anyone can provide support on this matter, I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance and have a good day.
