Hi,Thank you for your explanation. However, I'm struggling to understand the compensation behavior in my configuration file. For example, if I specify the following compensations:10  10.1 10.08
20  20.1 20.08
30  30.1 30.08
...

When I move my machine to 30 mm, will the compensations for 10 mm and 20 mm accumulate, causing the machine to move to 30.3 mm instead of 30.1 mm? Or will the machine only apply the 30 mm compensation and move to 30.1 mm?

 I see in the qtplasmac_comp.hal file the line "net plasmac:scribe-start spindle.1.on => plasmac.scribe-start"
 should I copy it into my NVEM.hal file?

Hi,

I thought, mabye just start coding a clothoid lib. And try to
understand how 3d clothoids work.

I followed this paper, the same as Andrew used : 2d clothoid
Then coded chapter 4 into c code.
Was also able to look into Andrews clothoid code from where i
borrowed the gaus legendre.

With a little assistance of DeepSeek i was able to get a single 2d clothoid
running and plotted with gnu plot.

Then i turned on my experimental mode and tried to expand the signle 2d clothoid
to a single 3d clothoid.

The 3d clothoid uses torsion. To keep it simple i used simple names in the c code.

theta0 & kappa0 -> xy
theta1 & kappa1 -> z

I think the hard part is really the bi-clothoid fitting, wich has to be coded yet.

unable to get gpio to work on Raspberry Pi 5 using latest image

It does work, 2 users have had a couple of users have confirmed it.
I've also confirmed myself that loading of the driver as given in the docs also works.

Taking GPIO8 out of the input list allows the driver to load correctly. Which makes sense as GPIO08 as well as GPIO07 seemed to be claimed.

THC with Beckhoff EL5101 and THCAD2 => encoder signal loss

Maybe the EL5101 can say when it doesn't have a good reading, or something along those lines. Obviously check cabling.
It seems you get zero Hz as frequency, that's a unique signal, THCAD always give some hundred/thousand of Hz.
Maybe some hal trickery to hold the last good value while frequency is zero. An own component perhaps.

Yes, a real time component could monitor the voltage and add a delay before it drops the voltage sent to plasmac. The moving average would do something similar. Say it averaged 1000 readings ( 1 second), it would take 1 second before it fell all the way to zero.

From your halscope plot, please let me know how long it lasts for.

THC with Beckhoff EL5101 and THCAD2 => encoder signal loss

I would try at the THCADs 1/32 divide ratio

(The 1/1 ratio has relatively short pulse widths = 0.5 usec
which might be too short for the EL5101)

Need to mill a new Z end plate to raise my clearance 10mm and gain 5mm travel.

Others will know more than me but that looks like  a JST connector. Something like this

They come in different pitches eg 1, 1.5 , 2.0mm etc so measure the distance between pins

You might be able to get a uart to rs485 adapter and make your own cable  to pick up the expansion port. Just check the voltage the PC uses. If you need 5 volts, you could steal it from a USB port.

Other than that, the USB version (which I use) is OK. Once, it changed to a different USB port then it has not changed again! I just needed to edit the config file to use the different port.

Seems to be a smaller pitch. 10 pins (none missing). Cant find anything online vaguely resembling it, lenovo does not seem to offer it as a part I can find. All my other lenovos use a different type of cable.
