Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Hi,

I have implemented dogleg. The source is updated.

At least it does something. But something is not ok and i don't know what.

Given Target = x100, y2, z2.
Dogleg result : x1.99 y1.99 z100.00

But i guess this result is luck. Because other values can completely mesh up the clothoid result.

I tend to think the "early years" of the internet was about information, seems to be more about entertainment and consumerism now.

The dumification of humanity through internet

My take is that humanity didn't get dumber through the internet... until algorythmic information feed was established.

I learnt a lot from the internet from the mid nineties till now, on forums like this. But the algorythmic feed from YT (I avoid IG, FB, TT, X etc), has already knocked a couple of points off my IQ, trending sharply down :)

Maybe that is also just getting older and grumpier though.
Cheers,
Mark

Linuxcnc & the Raspberry Pi (4 & 5) Official Images Only!!!

Category: Installing LinuxCNC

Hi,
When I try to log in with rdp from windows 11, it accepts user and pass, but after the image displays something pixelated as if there were 100 miniature desktop . Has anyone else experienced this? (rpi 4 4gb ). Everything else works ok so far..

Hi haasme,

I have tried this dozen times or so, most of the times I had the results as yours. There were times when it worked, I don't know why. I have the desktop, and it responded quite well as well. BUT WHEN I ran glxgears, its own windows with the three gears were pixelated as well. I have since given up on this remote desktop connection. I plan to have another desk and another monitor :) Or perhaps a HDMI switcher (if there is such a thing.)

Best regards,

...behai.

I'm running Probe Basic without an ATC. You can have a look at my configuration files in this post:

forum.linuxcnc.org/12-milling/50559-opti...sion?start=70#309845

Note the those configuration files are for the previous stable version of Probe Basic so some small changes have to be done for it to work with the latest version.

It is mentioned in the user's guide manual and in Glade documentation.
And searching the forum will lead to several examples.

It's not easy to answer your question, as it is very global.

Mesa Configuration Tool

Is there any readme on how to add .bin files for a new board to this? I have the Mesa 7i76eu, successor to the 7i76e, and have downloaded the firmware files from the mesa site but am unsure of how to add them to the configuration tool.

Any help is appreciated,

The problem with Samba from Windows is that Microsoft put some security in place that by default disable Smaba (SMB) connecting with Linux.
The solution is to edit the SMB policy on your windows box and it works perfectly.

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 248 Jan 25 04:20 /home/maker/linuxcnc/nc_files/examples/ngcgui_lib/utilitysubs/mm_std.ngc

It is there, but it is owned by user root, so it will appear non existent to normal users, in your case maker is the normal user that has no access rights to that file.
No idea why or how, but in general, never use "sudo" unless explicitly told to do so.
You can try to manually set the permissions to read that file and see if that works:
sudo chmod 755 /home/maker/linuxcnc/nc_files/examples/ngcgui_lib/utilitysubs/mm_std.ngc

Help getting NgcGui working on QtDragon

Category: Qtvcp

Hello, I've consulted the following guides:
linuxcnc.org/docs/html/gui/ngcgui.html#ngcgui-ini
linuxcnc.org/docs/html/gui/qtvcp-widgets...cp:widgets:qt-ngcgui

I'm on
Debian: 6.1.0-30-rt-amd64
linuxcnc-uspace: 1:2.9.4

I've attached my .ini file, and my error linuxcnc.report and a screenshot of the last thing I see before it crashes.

I'm trying to use QtDragon: Utils > NgcGui.
I start by clicking "New Tab."
But when I try to select anything, like "Select Preamble," or "Select Subfile," etc, the program crashes.

I'm thinking it's not finding the subdirectories where these files are located.

But in the [RS274NGC] I have:
SUBROUTINE_PATH = ~/linuxcnc/configs/SaberCNC_10/nc_subroutines:\
~/linuxcnc/nc_files/examples/ngcgui_lib:\
~/linuxcnc/nc_files/examples/ngcgui_lib/utilitysubs:\
~/linuxcnc/nc_files/examples/probe/basic_probe/macros:\
~/linuxcnc/nc_files/examples/remap-subroutines:\
~/linuxcnc/nc_files/examples/ngcgui_lib/remap_lib

I believe the files are there in those directories. Though I also understand some of those are symbolic links, could this be a problem??

To prove the file is there -- for example, the preamble specified in *.ini -- I issue to a terminal:

Nontheless, for example, trying to click "Select Preamble," I was going to guess would choose the
and from a terminal, if I issue:
ls -al ~/linuxcnc/nc_files/examples/ngcgui_lib/utilitysubs/mm_std.ngc

Then I get back:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 248 Jan 25 04:20 /home/maker/linuxcnc/nc_files/examples/ngcgui_lib/utilitysubs/mm_std.ngc

Which seems like it's there.

I'm sorry in advance if this is an obvious fix.

Any help would be great.

Thanks again!
