7i95 board for 5ABoB(not T or S) firmware missing

Category: Driver Boards

Yes it can, although those will be software steppgens, meaning limited step rate that hugely depends on what latency the PC can maintain, usually you can get 10000 to 50000 steps per second.
If that is enough for what you need, then you can get 6 stepgens from a single parallel port, and 5 inputs.

7i95 board for 5ABoB(not T or S) firmware missing

I am ready to give up encoders. However, i am curious if parallel port can also be used for extra step gens?

thank you very much for the answer, but I really don't understand how to check it, I only know in the case when drivers , old amps` are appeared with an analog input +-10v. Yes ,that this is probably a signal ribbon cable from controller board to driver.

Which wires connect the control and drivers?

Remember: experiment on only 1 drive to make stuff simpler.

Make a binary counter circuit (a 4520B in 8-bit config and 8 LEDs connected to one counter output each can help you detect pulses (motor move pulses are too fast to see or detect, you have to slo them down with a counter too see them)) on a breadboard or something.

See if it detects a clock signal.

Those ribbon cables are probably parallel data lines(yay! Shift-register time!)

that's right, on my market you can find a cheap servo set from 1 kw motor + driver for 200 euros., I have to check first if it has backlash , I mean ballscrews

New motors are probably lower quality.

Nowadays, weight is a big concern.

Steel is not so cheap, and since everything is shipped from the other side of the world, a heavier motor means a greater shipping cost.

I think that's why induction motors and big, heavy thansformers are not widely used nowadays, they are very expensive to transport.

But motor drivers are light, so they are efficiency and cost optimised.

So the servos and drivers work?

Good.

Servo wiring hypothesis:
Wye or Delta brushless motor (4 or 3 wires) with an optical interruptor (2 wires for LED power, 2 for photoresistor (or phototransistor))

Or something like that.

that I know that the drivers are not expensive, or in that case I would have to install other motors, because there is no driver for such motors with an unknown type and with 8 wires.

Yes that's really confusing, the cable from the motor has 8 wires, I suspected that it might be a stepper, but isn't it. Yes, that's the only way I can move the axes, in ``jog'' mode.

I'd probably just scrap the drivers and electronics, old electronics are often really poorly made and are generally very power and space inefficient.

New drivers are so cheap, I don't really see any compelling reason to use those old ones.

If that's not your thing, I probably recommend removing all but 1 driver and then only testing that.

What is the fourth board near the power plug?

Some power filter board?

EDIT: When I say "electronics", I mean circuit boards and that sort of thing.

Old induction motors and transformers are just fine.

Funny thing: the driver is marked "O1D DRIVER", which looks like "Old Driver".

Do the servos move when you attempt to jog them with the bandit?

Whoa! So many wires!

So confusing!

Such a pity they didn't helpfully colour code the wires a bit or have a schemetic sticker.
