Hello,I am working with Lichuan LCE series servo drive and I am trying to establish an EtherCAT connection. Could anyone provide information on which PLC are compatible for connecting with the Lichuan LCE series via EtherCAT? Additionally, I would appreciate it if someone could guide me on the specific parameters or settings required to ensure a successful EtherCAT connection.Thank you!

Hi, so I'm a total noob regarding linuxcnc and servos, but hopefully someone here can help.

I got the A6 servos and I've set up a RPi5 with Ethercat. With your config I'm able to energise the servo (only one connected atm.) however I cant get it to move. If I try jogging it I immediately get an error "joint 0 following error" and a X symbol, and the servo de-energises. I get position readout in the DRO. I've tried increasing FERROR and MIN_FERROR a lot, then I don't get any errors but the servo wont move.

Try to start working with probe screen but pop out this error when try to start probe cycle. 

 

Ok "Sim mode" or simulation mode is that you are not running in a usable real-time environment.
There having Linuxcnc, the OS image/installation run in a VM means that it will be "Sim mode". If you run a latency test it will be horrible.
Now if the arm install was uninspiring, I doubt very much an arm processor on the Mac emulating x86 instructions will be any better.

Now "you're wrong" as a reply helps no one, and we end up playing a back and forth game trying extract information from one another.
No if you happen to have the same experience on different forums, I would do what I do when repairing various devices and swapping parts out. It may be helpful to look at the common dominator.

You're wrong.

Yeah I not too sure what that means other than this whole thread is a "you issue" and you need to learn to ask better questions, although I can understand the frustration if the mess that is the English language is not your native tongue.
Now from my understanding, correct me if I'm wrong, you would like to run Linuxcnc in a Parallels VM. Now if this is the case it will not be a real-time capable setup.
Now if it possible to install a Debian arm installation in your VM that would be an option.
Now if you have to have an x86 VM you may need to try other options to get this done for you.

In actual fact running Linuxcnc on real a x86 (amd64) platform or a real ARM (ie RPi4 or 5) platform is the same. Apart from hardware that is specific to each platform.

Linuxcnc can not be used for realtime inside a VM. Simualtion is fine.

Now, anything to do with Parallels isn't a Linuxcnc issue. Maybe if you tried a Mac forum and asked politely, someone may want to perform this task for you. Like "Can someone with an Intel Mac create a x86 Linuxcnc VM for me to use on my Arm based Mac." That would have made life easier if you have had just asked that to begin with.

point 6 sounds a bit dangerous to me because we are using a custom built kernel so who knows what might happen if you attempt to upgrade the OS version!

I would stick to just doing

As you'll only be able to run in simulation mode and you just want to get familar with Linuxcnc an arm install will be fine.

After doing a quick read I'd research the following:
Is Debian Bookworm able to be run. The kernel versions and X server versions seem to be limited.
Is the Kernel version that is on the Linuxcnc iso compatitable ?
 

What you're suggesting has absolutely nothing to do with what I asked for.

Yes (this appllies to most step motor drives with opto-coupler inputs)

Yes, you can make a little loop at the drive.
(if you are good with a wire-stripper you can do this with a single piece of wire)

Nice write up, new Rpi4 & Rpi5 images have measflash 3.5.10 included, as well as SPI being enabled by default. Might take a couple of days for the new images to go online.
