Weird artifact while decelerating high speed robot arm

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

I don't think so. The same point is being passed through twice in this graph. If it was an inflection point there would be multiple artifacts, right?

if this is a 16 input module, there should only be one function 3 read
(because that read reads 16 bits at once into a single U32)

Also it's a bit  strange to use function 3 to read bits
as function 2 would be the standard thing for this.

LinuxCNC on Raspberry Pi 5

Category: Installing LinuxCNC

Hi all,
after swapping our Raspberry Pi4 with a 5 things didn't work anymore as they did before, and thanks to this forum, as far as I understood there is no SPI support yet, right?
I have also read that "rodw" you have created an image builder, and "Cornholio" you managed to patch it so it works right?
As we are trying to run the mesa 7c80 with a Raspberry Pi5, is there an image available currently that supports this combination? If not what would be the steps to "patch" it together?

Thanks a lot in advance

What I mentioned was based on the Flex Label with a bit input that was just added, could add multiple bit inputs but now that I think about it that probably wouldn't go well if multiple bits were true. So yeah, it could use an S32/U32 input and that would probably solve that issue but there's still no way of displaying different text based on the value of the input other than just to display the value itself.

Something like this could work, it currently doesn't:

Now it does :) and BTW it only uses U32. Oh and the function is hal_msl instead of hal_pin.

I like it!

And here you go Flex GUI Multi-State HAL labels!

Stepper motor Speed

Category: Basic Configuration

Hi, could you solve your feed problem? If not, let me tell you that 1/32 step is much too high for a stepper motor without closed loop. Even if closed loop, more than 2000 steps are senseless because of losing holding and turning torque at higher speeds. High steprates can be useful in 3d printers, where light weight loads are moved. In a CNC machine do not use those steprates. The theoretical precision of more microsteps is not realistically reachable with steppers, while they fall back into full step. Servo motors are another story...

interesting read.

Although it's true FUD happens alot. I see it more as they're hoping to walk it back so they don't
loose customers. I was reading through Bambu Lab's forum yesterday and I can tell you their was
a LOT of fallout over this "Beta" update. If this was indeed a huge misunderstanding fine. I apologize
for not seeing it as Bambu Lab intended it to be seen.

That said I have seen WAY to many companies do the rug pull and close off their entire echo system
in the hopes of gaining more profits. I have seen it with Autodesk, HP, and you know what their are way
too many companies to list. They all love the subscription type of money model. I, like almost every
other human being in this world absolutely HATE the constant monopolistic mindsets and tactics that
have run rampant now of  days.

So Bambu Lab you didn't mean it that way, OK. But know this, YOU ARE being watched. I am
already switching to Orca Slicer from Bambu studio. I have already set plans in place to build
Vorons for my future printing needs.
And I'm not alone!

PS
I don't think anyone else is buying it either

Rando hal component collections

Category: HAL

There's some good hal components just floating around in this forum that were never submitted to linuxCNC. I just found one to "blink" an LED during a search since surprisingly, there isn't a simple way to do it in HAL at the moment. I tested it quick and it seems to work fine.
forum.linuxcnc.org/24-hal-components/29015-hal-blink-component

Not sure if a collection thread already exists but, I've found others over the years. One was just a lump of code that Andy threw in a thread that I copied out and had a friend improve a bit. I submitted that as the "spindle-monitor" component which I guess we forgot to credit so the maintainer just authored it eventually.

I figure there's some other useful components out there that are maybe not well tested, or maybe not 100% finished. If anything like that is floating around post it up!

I don't see any reason that can't be done in Flex... give me a few minutes to code that up.

looks like I will have to cruise around the Freecad forum for a little bit. The Latest drama of what
Bambu Lab is pulling has re-emphasized the need to keep up to date on the open source software.
It seems to be the only way to keep out of the absolute money vacuum of today's mainstream
industries.
