Haallo Leute

For example

0  Grounds inputs 0,1 with CR1 and CR2 = 00b = 0d

Means in the schematic i provided, switch position 0 grounds 7I73
inputs for bits 0 and 1 resulting in a binary code of 00 (00b) which is decimal 0 (0d)

The 7I73 input best suited to this use have pullup resistors
which means they will read high when unconnected. This is important
as it determines the switch connections.

And please please do not connect 24V anywhere near the 7I73...

Ethercat installation from repositories - how to step by step

Category: EtherCAT

It appears something has broken since last friday. I also am unable to install now, getting the same missing files you are seeing.

My linux ignorance really shows in these scenarios, I also need very clear step by step instructions. I'm currently blocked again and relying on an older 2.8.2 iso that was packaged up by Grotius on the forum:
github.com/grotius-cnc/LINUX_RTOS/releas...age-amd64.hybrid.iso

That iso has a package that you just need to double click on the desktop that installs all the ethercat stuff and you just need to edit the ethercat.conf file and youre good to go.

No.
If everything works, and the PC is not connected to internet, there is no need to upgrade at all.

LinuxCNC-RIO - RealtimeIO for LinuxCNC based on FPGA (ICE40 / ECP5)

Category: Computers and Hardware

little warning !

the debouncer has been replaced in the dev branch,
if you are using it and have specified certain delay values, then check this for the next update.

now, the delay is in milliseconds, which makes the whole thing easier to configure.

the default is set to 2.5ms

Should I update

Hi all I am back in my workshop after the better part of 4 years (a long story) and I want to get my router going again.
I have a working setup running Debian 10 with Mesa cards.

So should I do a full reinstall, just load the updates etc?

thanks
Luke

Hi Tommy,

This is what I said, in HAL show (Show hal configuration), my light are perfectly stable and I see any color blinking at all...

The homing procedure goes well. But once it's homed, the offset of 10mm is applied, then when the lathe is idle, I get this joint 0 on limit switch error.

That would imply it is from interference/EMI.
Use the included "show hal configuration" from the "machine" menu to watch the input pins, usually you can see them switching on/off when idle and with interference present.

I hadn't tried getting into the wiki in a few so I gave it a shot this morning and it came right up like a boss.

Don't know what changed but whoever it was gets a big thanks from me!

Another joint 0 on limit switch error

Category: Basic Configuration

Hello,

I'm struggling on this one...
You can find enclosed my conf files.
I have a 7i96s and a 7i73 and everything seems to work fine.
I have 2 limit switches on my X axes (lathe), They are both connected on the 7i73 and it seems OK.
On the X+, my limit switch is also my Home switch.
The homing procedure goes well. But once it's homed, the offset of 10mm is applied, then when the lathe is idle, I get this joint 0 on limit switch error.

On HAL show, I don't see the pin changing color like if it was a noise or something. There is 10K pull up resistor on these pins if I remember well the documentation of the 7i73. So, what is going on? I'm a bit (totally) lost on this one.

Thank you for your help

New and Working RTAI debs for 2.9

Category: Installing LinuxCNC

I have started to set up LCNC with the RT kernel on my system (N3150 AMD630) running a fresh installation of LMDE6. I disabled UEFI and a list of other parameters as recommended eslsewhere, and used the download instructions at the top of this topic (the 5.4.279 versions).

At boot, if I select 'advanced option' I can select LMDE6 with Linux 5.4.279-rtai-amd64.

However, I get the following error:
bad shim signature
error: you need to load the kernel first.

I assume I have skipped something in the setup process. What should I do to correct this?

Update: This was fixed by (again) disabling secure boot - although it keeps saying it is enabled.
$ uname -a tells it is running rtai-amd64
There was a warning that the kernel was not compiled with ?? (message disappeared fast) but the system runs.
Now will try LCNC.

Update2: Switched Mainboard to A960D+ (6 core AMD), installed Debian12 and the rtai debs. Removed in BIOS anything not needed for a legacy setup. After setting isolcpu parameters (2, 4,5 - thanks for rt_setup.sh !!) got the best legacy timing ever on one of my systems: 6 - 8 uSec with 4 gears and a lot of browsing. Will test and apply the rtai version on my other systems as well.

Thanks and Regards,
Robert
