unfortunately I don't have video outputs on the motherboard, I'm looking for a motherboard to be able to do this, are there any pcie video cards that don't create problems? No to video cards with additional power please!

small OT, I inserted these strings in hal and ini but I continue to have the same movements on the stepper, where should I ask for this problem?
remora-docs.readthedocs.io/en/latest/software/hal-examples.html

Thanks to everyone for the intervention in this post that helped me to improve the management of the IRQs in the system!

Absolute easiest way to add a 6th stepgen to my mesa 7i96s setup?

Category: Driver Boards

I am building out an XZC+Stepgen spindle lathe and want to add a dual motor Y axis to this lathe. Right now i am using 4 of the 5 stepgens for XZC+Spindle but i am hoping there is something easy I can do to add one more stepgen.

Is there a firmware that would unlock another stepgen for my 7i96s? Should I forgo that and look for an addon card? My goal is to mess with as little stuff as possible so as to not break what is already working.

I heard there might be a firmware that would allow this without a daughter card but I am looking through the support software and it seems there isnt a currently built one?

Any ideas?

OK, so no one actually knows exactly how to make this work for the current state of the software, or if they do, it must be way to difficult to explain the current process in a single post. Tragic, but I will have to accept it. I think I will cut my losses at this point and purchase a MESA 7I96 or some such. They seem to be only a few $$ these days anyway and they are in country, (less expensive than some of those DAP units on Amazon).

Thank you for your attempt to help, it has been appreciated. It all looked to be so straight forward at first glance and it probably was at one point.

It just seems hard to comprehend how the current process of converting an ST-link to a DAP-link has become so complex that it can not be explained in a single post, but here we are.

OK, i forgot what this was about, so yes, do continue testing and poking around.
Youtube will use graphic subsystem and that must use interrupts and other resources, causing spikes. Use integrated graphic, usually that works OK.

I wanted to see the stepper turn correctly, also to understand how ini and hal work if they are connected to each other. Honestly I would have liked to see the system turn with youtube active without errors.

Is there a bug in the carousel component or am I doing it wrong ATC Denford

Category: Advanced Configuration

I have a few observations:

no pulses are generated for reverse movement when the magazine turns in one direction the stepgen.2.position-cmd value changes by 400 then stepgen.2.position-fb and carousel.0.counts tend to this value. when the moment comes for reverse movement nothing changes in the three above parameters. despite the fact that the Dir pin changes there are no pulses - so for some reason the carousel component does not add pulses resulting from the set carousel reversing time. N .rev-pulse .
I do not know how the mechanism should work the instruction says carousel.N.rev-pulse float in
The duration in seconds for which a ratchet changer (Boxford, Emco) should pulse the reverse pin to lock the holder.
on logic so pulses in an indefinite number for a specified time possibly some mathematics could calculate that if someone wants the reversing to last 5 sec. and the pulse frequency is known, stepgen.2.position-cmd should be increased by the result of these calculations and the pulsation command should be issued.

sorry I was no clear What yo mention is the actual process What I stated is the future state if the process can be modified we trying to avoid using 2 materials or 2 gCode files or edit the Gcode file to change PD to 0

1. make piercing using another material config, for piercing only
2. ok
3. ok
4. start cutting with config for the material you are cutting.

What problem?
None of the above are problems, you can set homing pretty much as you like or need or see fit.

Yes that is for parallel port only.
I have to ask, why are you messing with these settings?
What are you trying to do?
What is working and what not?
For configuration you should have asked in the Remora topic, might get better help there.

Remora - ethernet NVEM / EC300 / EC500 cnc board

Category: Computers and Hardware

I seem to of been wrong about converting the ST-link to DAP. I just went back and watched the video again and there were originally 2 steps in doing the conversion, but there is the post below that video - forum.linuxcnc.org/18-computer/44828-rem...rd?start=2050#321860 - that says to just use that one file?

I am now very confused and the computer says the converted ST link is an unrecognized device and it does not show up. I can not communicate with the link plugged into the USB

At this point I truly do not know what to do.

It might be easiest to buy one for a few $$ on Amazon or Ebay.

Thank you for the quick reply.

The log you shared is from the Python script, but the important part happens on the EC300 board side.

I can do it, but I need to get hold of a USB to RS232 adapter first. Should have it next week
