That's leadshine. A potential option here, but their prices are way too high.

Lichuan makes some lower priced kits people are trying out (ethercat as well as step/dir). I have not seen any on an actual linuxcnc machine running yet though.

Delta is easily found for very cheap online and has a good reputation. Hard to beat for value from a top end supplier.

Just in case, for analog servos from Mesa, depending on availability :
7i97T
or
7i92TM + 7i77
or
7i92TM + 7i85 + 7i83
or
7i96S + 7i85 + 7i83
And if you end up needing more IO, grab a 7i84, it can be easily wired to any of the above combos

Where can I find .ko files

You don't need to know where the .ko's live
Halcompile looks after that for you. Just write your component and
sudo halcompile --install mycomp.comp

As to the electrical... Mesa 7i77 would be where you start for analogue with quadrature encoders, but I would have in the back of my head replacing the servos with new ones.

Oooh, nice. I always liked these.

For reference, these are basically the same is a MAHO, so all the same rules should apply.

Mine had the revolving nut for the z ram. But they way they did it was to have a normal ball screw nut mounted in a rotary mechanism. So check over what you have there already, it may be reusable with a normal ball screw.

Decent servo suppliers and recommendations

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

I'm looking for a small servo motor and drive combo and I'm just not having much luck.
I think I sold myself on yaskawa, but the few companies I've reached out to either will get back to me with a quote(it's friday, i get it) or haven't been helpful. I asked one company about driver dimensions and was told to google it...

So I figured I'd see if anybody had any opinions or suggestions.

I've heard the ebay seller industrialpartsshop is a good source but I'm nervous about pairing the correct motors and drives, since they sell them separate, although I haven't asked to see if they'll help with that yet.

I would definitely consider other brands, but yaskawa and delta seem like the best choices to me. I wouldn't mind paying a little more to a company that doesn't mind answering a few questions or is based in the us.

My mesa card sends analog signals so I like the idea of getting analog compatible drives. I know that step/dir and ethercat are possibilities, but I don't know any reasons why I shouldn't stick with analog.

Thanks tommy.
I briefly went through that thread when I first set them up, but am definitely going to revisit it once I get a chance to tune them better. I appreciate you writing that tutorial, I wouldn't know where to start without it.

HAL pin to indicate motion or pgm running ?

Category: HAL

If you just want to check for any motion, there is 'motion.current-vel' it is OUT FLOAT, i think you can use COMP for float to bit

Works like a charm, just what I was looking for and thanks for mentioning comp, that's what I used.

I'll try as soon as I can, but to change the output I didn't touch any wire, I simply removed and replaced the complete terminal, going from output 0 to output 4 which is exactly below.

the cables are all shielded, I haven't made any changes and the router has been working for almost 2 years without this problem.
