Module ec_master not found in directory /lib/modules/6.1.0-25-rt-amd64

Category: Installing LinuxCNC

Because unusable LMDE6 istallation (Lcnc work perfect no worry on these, but other app was unusable because some repo was unusable), I try bookworm ... so can choose defenitively if remain to old Mint19.3 or upgrade to new 6.1 kernel .... I use rodw script for kering (more easy for sure).... so:

1- I use bookworm mate 12.04
2- I discover wget is not install by default (strange is an usual bash lib)
3- sudo apt update // sudo apt upgrade // sudo apt install linuxcnc-uspace ... work like a charm ... perfect but install 2.9.0 so need to use script for add linuxcnc repo and upgrade version.
4- script work and Lcnc now is upgrade to 2.9.3 ... actually if use uname -a command I obtain these "    Linux gc51-pc 6.1.0-25-rt-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_RT Debian 6.1.106-3 (2024-08-26) x86_64 GNU/Linux "
5- try to install ethercat with sudo apt install linuxcnc-ethercat .... but fails ... unable to locate messages ... so I use other rodw script ..... et voilà ... al done .... BUT ... receive thee messages:
sudo apt update

i agree that there should be a new modular system so that everyone can incorporate their own ideas.
But this already exists: forum.linuxcnc.org/18-computer/49142-lin...cp5?start=450#308969

that is the opposite of what i am suggesting

Instead of reinventing the wheel does anyone see an issue with using the standard db25 pinout that used by std parallel port break out boards ?

yeah but they never stopped improving the wheel. the first wheel was probably shit. paraport standard is old n busted and needs to be paraport compliant. thats also the first board everyone already made

what i am suggesting is basically a 7i76 (without mesa smart serial stuff) that reflects the common cnc machine in 202x, what we can just plug our coreboard into boards into and run what ever we want.

but its fine, i see this isnt what we are talking about, i will move along.

When I was designing the daughter boards for the Aliexpress fpga dev I use I designed it in mind with compatibility with Mesa db25 daughter cards, which is 17 signals on pins 1-17, 4 that are dedicated ground and 4 that can be jumpered to be be either 5v or GND. Probably not applicable directly to RIO but I thought it was a good system.
Not only can I use modified Mesa firmware to suit (EPP or SPI interface) but also RIO firmware with either direct SPI or with UDP bridge, this wasn't the original goal, it just worked out that way.

At the end of the day the developer has to be happy with his designs, when he is people will use it.

setting mpg scale with rotary switch

Yes that was the first thing I tried however the encoder scale I set makes it so the position is a float number that I can't pass off toaxis.x.jog-counts
So if it works with 3 mux8 I would just use that and be done.

x and y switched

Category: Plasmac

I have a working axis config that I'm trying to convert to qtplasmac.
For some reason, qtplasmac thinks my x and y are opposite.
If I move my y axis, the x dro moves, and vice versa.
I looked at the recent post by the same name, but mdi button is grayed out.
This is my first time with qtplasmac so I'm sure I'm over looking something.

how to optimising long time servo-thread.tmax (mesa 7i92, i7 3770)

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

I can also add the following.
I noticed that when I run the program, the time is approximately 600,000.
If you start milling against the background of the graphics frame, where the trajectory is drawn, then the time increases to approximately 1,200,000You can see in the pictures what I have attached. There are several of them. With different names.

how to optimising long time servo-thread.tmax (mesa 7i92, i7 3770)

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Rarely in the past have I seen this error: Unexpected realtime delay on task 0 with period 1000000
However, after I configured the rt_setup.sh.txt script, the error stopped occurring.
The servo-thread.tmax time has been significantly reduced.
I bought an intel i7 3770. I was hoping to reduce the time.

However, I think there is no point in using i7. An intel i3 3240, which I used a month ago, will be enough. There seems to be no sense in the i7.

i3 3240 generates less heat

If you, as an expert, consider my result satisfactory, then I will stop there.

I have no one to turn to.
I just can't believe these are normal results.
After all, ping time is not bad.

Thanks for the answer.

ok, then we already have an intersection ,
what IO's does a machine need in 202x ?

We can also design a common schematic and 2 layouts, ISO-style and 7i76-style

I just wonder why we need different ‘coreboards’,
that would only make sense if you want to make a microcontroller version, when it comes to FPGA's it almost doesn't matter which one you take.

7i73 Analog in problem?

Category: Driver Boards

I replaced all three pots with some 0-20k's and the problem is significantly better.

I'm using inputs 0, 1, and 2.

Behavior is a ~0.02v +/- jump on two of the inputs whenever I turn the third up or down to the limit.

All combinations behave the same way, and it looks more like voltage drop (or spike) as all three are connected to ACC pin 12 and GND pin 00.

I think I can live with this as-is since they're just overrides, but it'll be interesting to see if I get a spindle speed bump if I turn the FRO all the way down.  If so maybe I can add a filter in hal or something.

Unless you get real time error or error finishing read errors when running LinuxCNC
those times should be fine.
(worst total servo thread time (1236924 clocks) is about 350 usec which is fine for a 1 ms thread)

Not, fixed yet but I may have some cycles soon
You should be able to use 0,1,2 but not 1 and 3
simultaneously unless driven by a low impedance source

I'm using the microflex drives they have pulse and direction input, you can tune the servos with the mint workbench software and its free on abb website
not sure if those are supported but there is lots of good documentation on the abb/baldor website

7i73 Analog in problem?

Category: Driver Boards

There is an issue with analog inputs 1 and 3 on the 7I73
there seems to be electrical leakage (about 50K ohms)
between inputs 1 and 3. Suggest using analog inputs
1 or 3 but not both until this is figured out. It may be fixable
in the 7I73 firmware but I am not sure currently.

@PCW,

Has this been fixed or any further investigation done?  I'm trying to connect three pots to my 7i73 and getting some strange results (cross-talk) in halshow.  I'll try some other pots in case one or more is dodgy, but I'd like to know if there's no way I can use all three.

You can try a CPU without a iGPU (i.e. a series with the F suffix). Coupled with AMD's discrete graphics card, which I use now, it works very well.
