Hardware needed to switch from mach 3 6 axis to linuxcnc 9 axis

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Well, the OP could consider Ethercat which is flexible and expandable but adds some complexity, reduces wiring and probably adds more cost than mesa cards

I'm not ignoring ethercat but since the OP wants a solution that doesn't involve a lot of research I opted to point him to the widest and most trodden route. Which is also the route with the most support along the way.
You EtherCAT guys are doing a great job at making things more accessible but it will be some time before I'll send a newcomer looking for an easy entry down that path.

LinuxCNC-RIO - RealtimeIO for LinuxCNC based on FPGA (ICE40 / ECP5)

Category: Computers and Hardware

Can we append a Kb of great zero-dummy nothingness to the rx and tx buffers to cancel this throttling misery thing? How silly.
This needs testing on a 20~30bytes load to confirm. I'll see if I can rig something up before cracking on something gigabit-like.

That's awesome news, knew you'd sort it eventually (ha!). Let me test this out after dinner when my bunch here is quiet (saturday!).

I installed linuxcnc and checked the latency.

It scored 12 million nano second

Compensation Z axis respect at Y

Category: CNC Machines

  Good morning everyone.
I wanted to ask for information regarding the management of a similar machine, attached.
When the Z axis leans forward, it clearly bends downwards, compromising the real machining quota for the same command quota of the y axis.
Clearly the problem is more evident when the z axis is further forward.
How would it be possible to relate the position of the Y axis in relation to the exit of the Z axis, so that when z goes forward, the y axis rises in relation?
I was thinking of an additional component, an offset, but I was asking for your ideas and experiences on the matter.
Thanks to everyone in advance

Hi Scott
check done
the analog inputs work, I enter with 5V and in halshow there are 5V.
While the analog outputs are as I said, in halshow they work, at 50% there are 5V,
on the output of the card there is no life

thanks

For the isolated inputs, assuming sourcing limit switches:

Limit switch common =  --> +24V that is, the common pin of all limit switches

Limit switch NC pins --> 7I95T inputs  (IN8,IN9, IN10,IN11 etc)

All input common pins used for limit switch inputs --> 24V COMMON  (INCOM8,9 INCOM10,11)

(I skipped inputs 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7 in case you want to use them for MPG inputs)

How to put a password on the exit button

If there is someone who can do this for a fee, I am ready to pay. I think there is someone who can do this, because the people who make this program probably won't have much difficulty in putting a password on the exit.

Thank you all for the quick response.

The issue was that I assigned the wrong limit switch pin to the wrong joint number. I am using mesa CT to build my configuration I have version 2.1.4 I believe its the latest version. Now I have the motor synced successfully, when I click home, both motors shaft turn simultaneously but my limit switches are not responding when I click them. MESA 7i95T seems like a good card, but unfortunately, it doesn't have wiring schematics that I can refer to. Can someone guide me on how to connect limit switches the right way on Mesa 7i95T?

thank you

What we have done so far: (maybe simple things for you, but difficult things for me)
1-linux installation (not easy for someone who has not done this before)
2-Servo control is completed with ethercat.
3-Remote I/O modules completed with ethercat
4-Modbus Tcp comleted
5-Automatic file reading worked quickly because it is a feature of gmoccapy.
6-Linuxcnc can be controlled by Windows in a local network without internet.
7-A common folder was created between Linux and Windows so that g codes were automatically sent to Linuxcnc.
I shared the remaining few issues in the forum. If there is anyone who can provide paid support on these issues, you can contact me and I am ready to pay a fee.

Remora - Rpi Software Stepping Using External Microcontroller via SPI

Category: Computers and Hardware

It's very very early days, but I've managed to send SPI packets on a RPi 5 from LinuxCNC using the low level RP1 memory mapped peripheral. Hopefully we can get RPi 5 support for Remora up and going.

5 days is not a very long time, but when I wrote to the forum yesterday, the problem was not solved. If the problem was solved, I wouldn't write these.
I've been working on this project for 1 month.
I have opened a few topics on the forum for a few days.
90% of my project is completed.
I don't want free support from anyone
I met and befriended the saints. I don't know his name on the forum, thanks to him the project is 90% completed.
I asked for help from him for a fee, but he devoted his hours to me free of charge and contacted me remotely many times.
Even if he does not ask for a wage, he will definitely be rewarded for his labor when the project is completed.
Evidence of my pursuit of paid support is the Instagram message I sent you in the past. If you check your Instagram message, you will understand that I do not want free support. As a last resort, I wrote to the forum for free support.
and I think some friends here don't know what the purpose of this forum is.

If it weren't for you it wouldn't have been solved so quickly. Updating Ethercat may not be under Linuxcnc's control, but I think that such important files, versions and packages that were running in the past should be preserved or backed up. I appreciate your support and you serve the purpose of the Forum's existence.

If you have a look at the figures on the wiz net wiki you’ll see as packet size drops so does the overall throughput.

All I could find is the implementation and proposed data integrity stuff. I know you're past your daylight but when you have a chance tomorrow, see if you can find that bit of info you ref'ed and we'll talk to their engineer about it. See if we can flip a Magic Register to disable that supposedly/suspected throttling thingy...
