New member from Germany - CNC retrofit of a Leinen FM1

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

You _probably_ don't need to take the tachos to LinuxCNC.

Typically the tachos connect only to the servo drives to feed back velocity, and the analogue voltage input from the controller sends a velocity command based on position feedback from the glass scales.

The Leinien FM1 looks like a lovely little thing.

An all-in-one solution from Mesa would be: store.mesanet.com/index.php?route=produc...id=397&search=analog
But there might be cheaper options (for example 6i24 + 7i33TA) but the 7i97T ethernet option will work with just about any supported computer, including the Raspberry Pi.

Other options exist. EtherCAT, Pico PPMC for example.

One of the LinuxCNC developers lives in Münster, I think.

Fleshing out the rest of the bits.
Found a nicer cheap 21" touch panel on waveshare, seems like it would work well as a vertical panel with qtdragon

Heidenhain EXE610 - which MESA board would be needed to connect 4 of them?

Category: Driver Boards

Dear members,

a simple question. I hope, that somebody knows the answer and responds.

I would like to connect 3 Heidenhain glas scales LS303  and 1 Heidenhain rotary sensor ROD450 via the EXEs.

Thanks a lot in advance and best regards

But I'm more of a software / mechanical guy, so any advice would help :D

- DO IT!!!
- a lot of reading
- never wire everything and hope it just works, it won't
- do everything step by step, especially wiring and testing the electronics
- ask, ask, and ask again, we are here to help as much as humanly possible

I remember the time when Intel payed developers to make Linux boot in under 10 seconds...and some other nice memories (i do not mean RAM or ROM memories :) )
BTW, they did make it boot in under 10 seconds back then, even from a CD.

Are you sure you scales have an index?

One way to check is to setup halshow to watch  hm2_7i92.0.encoder.00.index-enable
and then:

setp hm2_7i92.0.encoder.00.index-enable true

hm2_7i92.0.encoder.00.index-enable should go high  but return low when the
index is detected (either jog or manual move the joint past the index)

This assumes the

#net x-index-enable joint.0.index-enable <=> hm2_7i92.0.encoder.00.index-enable

Line remains commented out.

Does ping work?

sudo chart 99 ping -i .001 -q -c 60000 10.10.10.10

( will run for 1 minute and print statistics )

( or 192.168.1.121 instead of 10.10.10.10 depending on 7I96S setting )

just a thought, disable energy efficient ethernet. The parameters are determined by your NIC
some info here  community.toradex.com/t/how-to-disable-e...ient-ethernet/6602/3
I think with newer OS versions we will see this more and more.

Te linuxcnc folder is preserved on an upgrade but keep a copy off the pc.
What version of linuxcnc are you using? Versions before 2.8 might need some more work.

I have found its best to build a rough config with stepconf or pncconf, then cut and paste your ini file data into the generated ini file.It only takes an hour or so that way.
