It has a Mitsubishi A800 drive. (I can get the specs tomorrow) It came with 3 900+ page books. I know it receives forward and reverse signals separately. I I'm pretty sure it's PWM, but to me honest, I don't know. Sadly, I didn't build it or configure it. Coming in after someone else kinda stinks.

The original thread was getting way long, with a lot of info spread out.
Pleas pay particular attention to the hal_gpio stuff, there is a basic 3 axis mill config that works. If you get any errors when thrying to use hal_gpio, unless the error log states "no permission" the issue is a permission error (which should not happen), otherwise it is related to the GPIO pins selected or somethng else. Mostly this occurs when a user attempts to use the SPI allocated pins without disabling the SPI interface.
What I suggest to the RPi users is to bookmark the Index thread forum.linuxcnc.org/38-general-linuxcnc-q...l-images-only#325007 for later reference . 

The major difference re GRBL & Linuxcnc is that Linuxcnc (what runs on the PC) is interprets the gcode and works out the timing & responds to realtime events.

With GRBL the PC sends gcode to the GRBL controller and that interprets the gcode.

There is no option (and so far it does that like it will ever be an option) to send gcode to an external controller.

UNITS = INCH # issue a G20 at load
DEFAULT_UNITS = INCH # same as G20

Remove the comments from those two lines.

Talking about having to drop this menu down and change every time. I thought i changed everything in the ini related to units (attached).

There was/is something for PlasmaC and/or QtPlasmaC, but i can not find it, might be in the manuals, but searching for it now i noticed some of PhillC videos have been removed from youtube.
It did skew adjustment also, when the plate was not placed parallel, etc.

Anyone have any experience with using machine vision with LinuxCNC?  Specifically I am looking into adding a camera to a CNC router for automating the touch off process for part location and size checking.  I want to be able to fixture a part (a frame) to the table then start a routine that would find the edges of the frame opening, make any needed adjustments to the part coordinates, and g-code (adjust a parameter or 2) and then mill the piece.

Does this sound like a reasonable task? Anyone already done something similar?

Did you finish your project, did you use the original encoder or did you change it?

I don't think you will get much help without a description
of your Modbus hardware and software setup.

electricity is back here ... last slave is your EP box ... check the config but there is no SDOs setup .. I think you will have to create some over the SDO object and then translate them -> object 0x8000:01 .. 17 

but it's also legitimate if you don't want others to use it, why look for loopholes?
