ok I guess I need to do more reading on how the PDO works. the servo manual lists other PDOs that aren't listed in the 1600 and 1A00 registers, such as 606C(speed feedback). how would one use these other PDOs? I guess I dont see what fixed PDOs actually do.

I would be glad to help, but everything I have is for A280. I have some wire diagrams and general manuals. All of my machines have quit not only with NEC9810 problems but the main machinie computer has also failed. I have been trying to do a LinuxCNC control retrofit with EtherCat but that isn't going well due to the EtherCat - motors don't move and nobody seems to know why.

The brassbal i machined before is part of this project with some ellipses made of 10mm hpl, inspired by:

looking at your code, are you getting 64 digital inputs and outputs you "could" address over EtherCat?

looking at your code your passing around the digital io around as a single 32bit int and you have 2 of them...

uint32_t outDigitalSet0;
uint32_t outDigitalSet1;

if you mix that with an I2C or SPI extender couldn't those be mapped to an I/O extender of some kind?

I solved with a component, it freezes current line number. Only way to reset by load a new file or nc start.

 

Hi all
My goal is to setup a raspberry pi with ethercat.

I have a raspberry Pi 5 with an additional network interface from waveshare ( here )
its planned to use this additional ethernet port for connecting the machine to the network, and the native Port on the Pi for Ethercat.
to use this additional Interface, the kernel needs to be recompiled with some additions to the config file.

I am not familiar with recompiling a kernel, thats why i am seeking help here. 

Has anyone encountered similar issues?
Is there maybe a fixed Kernel to download so i dont need to do the recompile?

That's a pretty ancient LinuxCNC version, but getting it going as it used to work as a first step makes sense prior to any attempts to update.

The Pico USC is still supported as far as I know.

If you post questions in the driver-boards section there is a fair chance that the manufacturer will see them.

More antennae to collect interference ...
OK for stuff with no big inductive loads, not OK otherwise to use long cables, neither is using more cables.
And mind the wiring loops.

eBay is full of CNC machines with dead controls. Whether there is a market for them in an upgraded-to-linuxcnc form I don't know. 
 

Connecting the wires "far from each other" from the same supply will do nothing.There is no electrical isolation. None whatsoever.

The fusion 360 models that the SVG files came from might have moved with a change in how Autodesk store data.

I made the SVG layers by creating a shaded isometric drawing of each component then exporting the drawing to SVG.
