Thanks a lot for your advice. It seems Dell Optiplex and HP Z series are well regarded. I'll follow your guidelines. It seems the safest way to go considering I have a working system. Not sure between version 2.9.4 or 2.9.5 considering I am using a parallel port.

Yaskawa servo stops abruptly during homing on shared switch

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

I’m currently working on a Busellato Jet 2 CNC machine. This machine uses a shared limit switch and home switch. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem in LinuxCNC, but the Yaskawa servo drives are wired in such a way that they disable any further movement in one direction once the switch is hit.The result is that during homing the servo stops abruptly, which forced me to increase the following error tolerance. Is there a better way to handle this situation? Would you recommend disabling this behavior in the servo drive, or is there a LinuxCNC-side approach to improve it?

Carousel with counts move x amount of pockets

Category: Advanced Configuration

I’ve made some good progress with the carousel. It turned out that some parameters need to be set to 0 when using counts mode, and with that change I’ve got it almost working perfectly. Homing and jogging both run flawlessly through the shell M-codes.The only issue I’m stuck on now is when I try
M120
to rotate to a specific pocket. At that point it just hangs in state 8, because the
align-pin
variable stays at 0 and won’t let the sequence continue. What’s odd is that when jogging it also goes through state 8, but in that case it’s able to pass through just fine. So it feels like I’m missing something.Any tips or ideas on what might be causing this?

Solved: Help with Busellato JET 2 spindle retrofit – VFD overload

Category: Driver Boards

Yes, there was one parameter I hadn’t interpreted correctly. Now the spindle reaches high RPM smoothly. You can still hear it struggle for a split second at low RPM, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem.

Got it, yes I'm also not a fan.
Just scanning the pages, it looks to me like the cnc-apps are mainly 2D
I'm kind of dyed in the wool solid modeller so wed to tools that are completely OTT to the actual work being done, but its a comfort zone.

Keep a backup of the config folder, on at least two USB's or hard drives, do not worry much about other stuff and updates.
If the machine is working properly, leave it as is.
And you can always find even older ISO images to download on the downloads page.
If you do have a spare PC, then install whatever you want top test, copy the config file and check if everything works properly.
For parallel port systems, some older Dell Optiplex, some HP Z200/220 and Z400, and some Lenovo, come with parallel port or header for it on the board, just be aware that forum member "Unknown" had issues with some Lenono not working with general purpose adapters.

Here is what I have that works well with a parallel port.  I don't want to change that.  I sometimes have to reboot once or twice to have it load.  Not a big problem.  Overall I am very happy with it performance.  Just thought I might consider upgrading as most (not all) things improve ovver time.

Here is what I have:Linux Debian 4.19.0-21-rt-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT RT Debian 4.19.249-2 (2022-06-30)

It's an older Dell e521 computer.  Might have to upgrade the computer.  Again, I'm fine with the "No IRQ handler" at start up, then it boots ok. Just wondering if someone who knows more than me would make a suggestion as I don't want to loose what I have.

It's a great  cnc operating system.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Do you have the Mesa card?
The only way to know for sure is to wire it to Mesa and leave it running and using it as you normally would with the machine, so open files, run gcode, etc as this can be done without a machine attached.
If you do not get latency warnings and no dropped link = all is good.
Have a look at some laptops i tested:

This is amazing and exactly what I was looking for. (Thank You!) I'm struggling with how to fix the scale of my stl file. I'm also having trouble finding any documentation for this. Does anybody have a link to documentation or other examples?

M66 keeps waiting

Category: G&M Codes

Hi, I'm having the same error in version 2.9.4 with Debian 12, M66 L3. Q10 doesn't work from the M06 subroutine, it only works from an MDI command. When I run it, the console deactivates, and when I activate the sensor, it reactivates. How can I resolve this?

This might not be the same thing, this sounds more like the iocontrol.0.tool-change to iocontrol.0.tool-changed handshake isn't happening.
