Thanks Peter. I have updated this document which explains how to get the most out of your PC hardware when using Bookworm or Trixie.

Hot wire foam cutter - mapping Z and A axes to U and V

Category: Basic Configuration

I am using titanium based wire, very strong (it's an alloy, I was given some by a friend who bought a commercial machine - it is reportedly the best available on the market). I've cut more than 2000 profiles so far. I tried stainless steel fishing leader but it is too weak (even 108lb broke). I'm running about 70v out of a voltage regulator that can actually go up to 130v, but that is far too high. I think the wire gauge is around 23 or 24. The higher temperature allows much faster cutting, I can do 60 sheets of 1.5" at 300mm/minute

Carousel Toolchanger

Category: Advanced Configuration

Hi Andy.

Thank you for your reply.

I have read a bit about the carousel-component and it looks very good, but if I understand it correctly I can’t use it to drive an axis? My tool-carousel is configured as the C-axis on my machine.

But maybe I have misunderstood something? :)

[solved] How to set manual tool change remapping in qtdragon. Z limit error

Category: Qtvcp

I am having trouble setting up manual tool changes and remaps in QTDragon.
I'm trying to migrate from Gmoccapy, but I just can't get it to work.

I am setting it up from scratch, but currently the replacement instruction window is displayed and the tool probe and workpiece are moved.

In this state, the Z-axis height above the pre-beam appears to be about twice the maximum height.

The message reads:
invalid params in linear command error parameter is [3.000000]
Linear move on line 17 would exceed Z's negative limit

I've been doing this all day today. It seemed to work once, but I can't reproduce it. I've set it up from scratch many times, but it's stuck in the same place.

There's a little typo in the Mesa section:
  1. Ping the mesa card to confirm it's all working
    ping 10.10.10.1

(should be 10.10.10.10)

Also the network setup stuff (other than perhaps the IP address)
also applies to any other UDP connected device (Remora on EC500 etc)

Rtelligent ECT86 Closed Loop Stepper Driver Encoder Setting

Category: EtherCAT

Hello @Sandro! Have you ever solved the issue? I am in the exact same situation. New steppers from stepper online, nema34, 6A 4.5 Nm, 3 ECT86 and once I activate closed loop the motors do not actually turn just vibrate and make a weird sound. And from time to time I am "lucky" and get the 1 green 4 red

Mesa 7i96s + DM556T -> Motors not moving

Category: Driver Boards

I would try single ended wiring first:

Drive   7I96S

PUL+    STEP+
DIR+    DIR+

PUL-     GND
DIR-      GND

Are you using screen_options widget in your screen?
You can use that to load panels from INI definitions.
The docs show you how to load one programically.

Integrating Joystick Control (Logitech Wireless Gmpd F710) with axis selection

Category: Advanced Configuration

Thank you for your answer Andy. I thought i can not link single pin to multiple pins. Sometimes i am doing it unaware and getting the error which says you can't link one pin which is already linked to another pin. I am gonna try your solution, and share results with you.

Before your answer, i've solved the problem by an intermediate component which acts as a switcher. It is also a solution but yours is more appropriate. Appreciated.

this code works for rpi 4 model B but not working for rpi 5

Category: HAL

Seems to be permissions issue with gpio, might have better luck in the RPI forums, although no idea how often it is used there.

How to make Linuxcnc open with the feed and override 0?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

The thing is, you are asking for something that no one needed, so asking again and again will not help.
You can bump the topic time after time in the hopes that someone might help, but double posting does not help, it just makes it very hard to follow for anyone trying to help and makes it even harder to find in case anyone needs it later on.
The only thing i can offer is, pressing the "tidle" key (under ESC and above TAB) will set the feed rate to 0 in the Axis GUI, so there might be a way to insert that at startup, but that does not effect the rapid overide.
