Work with probe

Category: Basic Configuration

Yes, this is an adapted latest version 2.8.

With remote disabling of tool metering?
Probe Screen allows the tool length to be automatically measured during g-code execution when an M6 command is encountered. The user will only have to remove the old one and install the new cutter in the designated place. Remap of M6 is required in .ini. If you don't need this feature, just don't remap M6  in .ini

When I comment out the remap instruction in the INI, I can make the tool change, but if I uncomment the error always appears: Linear move on line 31 Would exceed Zs positive limit and invalid params in linear command

Going by the PCI Id of the card it should be supported by the std parport_pc driver.
For some reason it’s not and neither is the vendor supplied driver working.
No your not being obnoxious, it’s just frustrating, so it’s all good.
Generally NetMOS based cards are a good bet.
www.amazon.com.au/Syba-SD-PEX-NM2P-Print...hipset/dp/B000RK89ME

Something similar to the above, a little more than what the star tech cards go for, but you do get 2 PPorts on the one card.
It’s also worth trying the Parallel Port tester utility mentioned above, at least you can select which pin to test at a human readable rate.
I really wish you well it’s a bit of a journey finding a card that works.
Cheers

@Nofish, from here: www.aliexpress.com/store/1907567?spm=a2g...in.93.50f31802aywbrJ
Annie will help, and if you ask she will also adjust the somewhat high shipping fees. This resulted in a very worthwhile discount.

axis index error,Z motor rotates when jog moving X......

Category: EtherCAT

Just adding my 5 cents. I also had the same issue (3 axis machine with the Z-axis actually moving when I jogged the X-axis on the PC).

I'm using the leadshine CS3E-D1008 and in/out was connected correctly. But the PC was connected to the drive with slave address 2. Motors are wired with slave 0 connected to the X motor, slave 1 to Y motor and slave 2 to Z motor.  This cause X/Z to be swapped in linuxcnc.

Ethercat is not ethernet. Order of connecting DOES really matter! See attached picture for correct wiring of 3 ethercat drives for an XYZ machine.

Not to be obnoxious, but isn't there just a known good PCIe card that I can just buy off Amazon hat just works with LinuxCNC, preferably with support already built into the kernel?

I’m staring to think go with kill all drive drives power including spindle drive but leave the control board running and also get it to receive the estop signal.

That is what i do.

Also do you know of any good 220v relays that are din mountable that don’t hum loudly when they are on?

All Omron, ABB, Siemens, etc, all work properly, i have some big Siemens 24V AC ones, no hum.

Sorry ihavenofish, no progress to report. I will the moment I get something running.

I have however just ordered 4* 400w and a 1Kw for a hobby mill conversion, presently in transit.
