[solved] How to set manual tool change remapping in qtdragon. Z limit error

Category: Qtvcp

Can you figure out in what part of the process it is failing?
ie before the tool change? During the probe? etc

You could add some msg() commands to qt_auto_probe_tool.ngc to help in that regard.

Can you get me started on using LinuxCNC on a non-traditional kinematic mechanis

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Hey kind folks,

Total newby to LinuxCNC and I'm just hoping for a nudge in the right direction. I would like to use Linux CNC to drive novel kinematic mechanism that will eventually resolve two simple XY coordinates. I do know the mathematical equations that resolve a couple of rotational joints with interesting kinematics into the XY coordinate, but I have no idea how to use that math in a way that will eventually wrote back to g codes. I'm sure there are samples of people using non-linear, non-xy mechanisms, but I'm not sure where to start. Any good resources for how I might take a kinematic macadism that is not a traditional thing? Linear XY where I know the math and get that so that g-codes will drive. They make it to properly? Sorry if this question isn't even phrased properly.  Not sure where to begin.

Thanks!

Ethercat installation from repositories - how to step by step

Category: EtherCAT

So having reinstalled I'm back to the point of halcmd loadusr running, and 'show pins' showing the two entries from RodW' ethercat-conf, but none of my pins showing. Running 'ethercat sIaves -v' shows nothing also; I have one servo connected.
Maybe my ethernet connection though I'm sure I have the right interface in ethercat.conf. Any ideas?

I found the root cause. It is because of setting of 6092.
The default setting is:

Need to revise to:

The second was what I wanted. I just needed spinoverride.l rather than just spinoverride .
The foam cutter I'm working on is getting close to functionality.

Thanks again.

Very interesting! Is there a repository? And can this be used with the tangoboard or Tang Primer 20K?

Great work

Pi4b and Pi5 users - What should go in a 2.9.3 image

Category: Installing LinuxCNC

Becasue there is a new chipset  in the 5, there is as yet no known SPI interface. It that becomes available then one of the developers could look at it if they feel like it :)

Pi4b and Pi5 users - What should go in a 2.9.3 image

Category: Installing LinuxCNC

As i understand it, it is a RPI manufacturer issue, most probably hardware side of things, as i doubt if software issue it would have been solved by now.
As far as i recall, there are several versions of RPI5 and back then any new version would be crippled by issues for a long time, plenty of videos on youtube about that.
Chip shortage caused a lot of headaches for all manufacturers, but the way RPI owners handled it, is by far the worst way, ignoring issues and waiting for others to fix the issues while they were busy getting rich from the 180$ price tag.
Same ... well much worse, with Intel, blaming everything and everyone while knowingly selling 400-1100$ processors. Millions of it.
Personally, i blame humans for standing that kind of s#it. I do not, vigorously! :)

In regards to "The 7c81 product page at Mesa states that the 7c81 will not work with the RPi5". I was wondering if the Mesa company writes the driver normally or if the missing support for the RPi5 is something that is part of the LinuxCNC 2.9.3 image?

Changing "Spindle Override" label text

Category: AXIS

i dont think anythign you change in qtvcp will change axis.

which one are you trying to set? the one in the manual tab or the one beside the sider?
root_window.tk.call( '.pane.top.tabs.fmanual.spindlel','configure','-text','buttbutt tab')
root_window.tk.call( '.pane.top.spinoverride.l','configure','-text','buttbutt slider')

"are there good docs?"
only what Phil has made for the axis docs, otherwise it gets rather confusing because we are passing tcl/tk as strings through python, so its not tkinter, and its not just tcltk

this is the best site, as well as using plasmac2 config as an example

www.tcl.tk/man/tcl8.6/TkCmd/label.htm
github.com/LinuxCNC/linuxcnc/blob/master...plasmac2/plasmac2.py

here is my shitty one, but its got good references

Changing "Spindle Override" label text

Category: AXIS

This should be an easy thing, but my facility with tk is not great.  I want to change the text of the spindle override widget without editing the /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/qtvcp/plugins/status_label_plugin.py file where it is set up in the first place.  I have successfully changed text of the .pane.top.tabs.fmanual.spindlel label widget using the tk call shown in the Axis documentation:

root_window.tk.call('setup_widget_accel', '.pane.top.tabs.fmanual.spindlel','Wire Voltage')

This does not work for the tkinter.Scale widget spinoverride or spinoverridef.  I'm sure I'm missing some simple step.  Is there a good set of documentation for the tcl/tk code interface for working with widgets?

Thanks again,

Linuxcnc on my machine?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

I managed to install Linuxcnc on an old pc.

It seems for what I want or need.
a 7I95T + THCAD2 would be the way to go.

The thing is my machine is Router/plasma combo with rotary and laser and on top of that a probe will need to be installed.
In the future I will separate the tables.

Thanks to all!

Its a three phase transformer its for the versions that run on 380/400v since the spindle drive use 220 three phase power i think. And three phase doesnt need neutral to work its the phases that have 380V between them
