What do you really get for a $350 desk top engraver ?

Category: Show Your Stuff

i'm like a squirl with my information acorns and i don't discard anything so no worries :) and i did try it the biggest hang up i had was no way to look at the tool path other than to post and load it in the machine controller but other than that small issue over all it was quick and easy and it might work at some point for me later on when i come across a use for it :)

Does Z home properly if you start homing when close to the home switch?

Have you verified that the Z scaling is correct?

7i77-Analog Output TB5 does not appear in HalShow and is not found

So if both 7I77s are jumpered identically I would say the 7I77
with the analog section that does not work may have a bad  or
damaged pin on the FPGA interface that interferes with serial
communications.

Does the Z axis physically move towards the home switch when you start homing?

- since Z axis is referenced as the first axis, it references in the direction of Z- to the PNP contact (steel)
- if errors would not appear in the reference run itself, the Z axis would stop at the end contact Z-

Is the Z axis home switch recognised?
- Yes, I can confirm this, but I have to jog manually to Z-, then the Z axis also stops there at the end contact

- if no errors appear on the reference run, the Z axis stops at the contact (as a reminder it references in Z-)
- then it is the turn of the X axis
- if the X axis has also been referenced without errors, the Y axis would start referencing, but I interrupt this because servo 1 and 2 are not Cartesian tuned. I mean that the machine starts referencing without the display changing from 0, 1, 2 and 3 to Cartesian.
I assume that this must happen first, otherwise the two Y servos do not run in parallel or only one!?

Notice where the mouse pointer is, that should be as in picture if the home switch is at maximum Z travel.

I would first check that your X,Y,Z directions are correct
(by jogging and watching the movement and position display)

- yes, that makes sense

Then change the sign of the speed for homing if
is wrong

- yes, and this has to do with the settings on the PncConf windows of the X, Y and Z axes. Perhaps a screenshot, please?

For depth map stuff as the dragon above, give dmap2gcode a try, it is real simple and really good at what it does, but do check the settings page and try some stuff before discarding it, you might be pleasantly surprised.

 HOME_SEARCH_VEL = -10
i.e. change the sign in the ini file to -ve or+ve

Yes ok, but theseŝ are direct interventions in the INI file.

As PCW mentioned and I agree, I would like to make as many settings as possible with PncConf.

So sounds like a bad 7I77
Does it have all 4 yellow LEDs illuminated?
